If you feel your account has been unfairly closed, consider filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau:

CFPB's complaint form: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/

When someone reports an account closure here, a lot of the same questions get asked. It might be useful to answer some questions in advance. This could help figure out what happened or how to proceed:
  1. Did you transfer UR points to someone with a different address? Different last name?
  2. Did you sell UR points to someone?
  3. Approximately what percentage of your charges earned less than 5x points in the past 12 months?
  4. Did a Chase or non-Chase bank recently close one of your credit cards?
  5. Are you using up a large percentage of your credit line on all Chase and non-Chase credit cards?
  6. Is your total credit line with Chase much higher than with other banks?
  7. Did you apply for many credit cards or other forms of credit in the past 2 months? ("Many" may be hard to define.)
  8. If you have a Chase checking account how much did you typically deposit in money orders per month, if any?
  9. Did you recently start spending a lot more with Chase than in typical months?
  10. Is your monthly balance frequently close to your credit limit?
  11. Approximately what percentage of spending was on gift cards this year?
  12. How much of your bill do you typically pay using WM or KMart bill payment if any?
  13. Do you have a Chase mortgage or other account that might be profitable to Chase?
  14. Has your credit score or credit profile changed recently? As in: significantly more debt, more open credit lines, or a large drop in your credit score?

It might be helpful for others in the forum if you were a little more direct/transparent about what exactly you were up to that might have triggered this. You seem to be dribbling the story out rather piecemeal and mysteriously. That is certainly your prerogative, but I'm not sure what is actionable for all the rest of us, based on what you have shared so far.

Ummm... so this is like the FBI stopping Clyde Barrow and letting him go because robbing banks is not unusual for him? I thought Chase sought to shutdown sign-up bonus mongers (like me, I don't deny).

Which card was it and were you initially approved for it?

I noticed you posted in January of this year about the best practices for handling a review by Chase? Were you predicting this due to heavy acquisition of new cards, and you finally applied with Chase recently and they hit you? Congrats on the reversal of the decision.

I realize you "travel light", but some more definition would be amazing.

Roughly 10 Year chase customer having Ritz, BA, and Southwest cards. Also have some Amex cards. I hadnt applied for a single card in about 4 years and decided to apply for the new hyatt card and the chase ink business card. Credit score in the mid 700s.

Decided to just buy some gift cards at the grocery store just to meet minimum spend quickly, and specifically on the hyatt card, I kept getting a fraud protection hold and had to call in to get it released and continue the transaction. Well, on the 3rd time, transaction didnt process, with rep on the phone. He said there was some technical back end glitch and that he'd submit a ticket and I'd get a call. The next day all my Chase accounts were closed.

About a week later, i got the letter about my accounts being closed. They cited a quick increase in my revolving credit spend and also a recent delinquency on my record. I went and checked my credit utilization through chase journey, and its 4% (Four). And that delinquency? Ugh, an outstanding ~$200 on a banana republic store card that had slipped by me for a few months as those statements go to my mom's house, has already been paid off in full.

So I blindly sent a letter to Chase's Executive Offices, attached copies of my last two years pay stubs, copies of all of my banking statements, even showed what my house is estimated to be worth compared to what i have left on my mortgage.....frankly, anything I could think of that shines a positive financial picture. And they all do look very good.

We'll see what happens. I personally think this is all a little silly.

This latest "shutdown" report appears to be a drive by. Heck, it's not even a shutdown anymore. So, the dearth of reported shutdowns goes on.

RNE, opining that that's not a bad thing.

The funny thing is... you posted this at the same time as another shutdown report. So, there goes that.

Are you writing about the shut down that was magically UN-shut down the very next day?

No. I wrote about exactly what I said... the shutdown that was posted at the same time as the RNE post that I quoted. Why do you ask?

It's been over 14 months since I applied for a credit card, which it was a card for my business. As of this morning, I was at 0/24.

I decided to apply for Hyatt credit card to help with the transition from Marriott to Hyatt, but I received a message asking me to call Chase.

The representative stressed the word "exposure", but offered to move credit from another personal account.

I was surprised by her statement given my income level and the fact my personal credit line is only $23k with Chase.

She responded by saying the issue wasn't my personal credit line; the issue is I have 2 business cards with a combined line of credit over $80k.

$80k in credit line for a business should not be an issue, but I opened these cards years ago before my business was officially incorporated; therefore, I am the underwriter and I am responsible for whatever happens to these cards.

I was eventually approved, but I am not sure what will happen next given all the shut down stories I have read.

Do you guys have any advice?

Thank you

I do not want to see my cards negatively affected.

I greatly benefit from the business expenditures on my chase accounts, and i don't want to compromise that.

Had i known would hold my business credit line against me, i would have lowered them, but i was under the impression chase kept business and personal separate
