I feel like they are telling people like me on the verge of abandoning MPO and switching to another airline to stay for a bit longer and decide if I might want to keep using MPO as my primary programme.

Maybe there's a number of FTers here who are based in US but as a HK-based flyer I really don't understand how full fare J to / from US can earn even more points without raising the tier threshold...

I agree the difference between J and F is too little so flying F should earn more than A... But if flying J earns even more CPs then one round trip HKG-JFK will give the passenger MPC SL already.... Sounds idiotic to me... Instead, D and I should earn less...

Agree that Y should earn more, particularly it is completely unreasonable for Y to earn the same CPs as E when Y is much more expensive than E...

now there is very few “medium” haul location but guess after the change Singapore, Tokyo, Jakarta, Bali may become medium haul. And it makes sense and in a way tie with BA’s classification.
Agree. It's quite strange to have Shanghai and Singapore in the same category (even though flying to PVG may take even longer time than to SIN)

Let's hope for:

1. continuation of Asia Miles expiration to match most other FFPs, not like a putrid 3-year expiration of any miles earned.

2. Lifetime Silver(Ruby)/Gold(Sapphire). Really can't understand how come CX cannot do this, when AA, BA, QF are all doing whatever it takes to display loyalty(Note: Whether or not they appreciate them is a different story).

With the financial numbers that CX had this year, I don't think they are going to give more one-segment upgrades to members.

Here are my wishlist:

1. Bonus Asia Miles based on membership Tier. Like extra 50% for DM, 30 % for GO. Treat you own Frequent flyer program member better!
2. Improve the earning rate for F & J. Come on, QF FFP give me 80 points for 1-way HKG-SIN J trip, while MPC only got 25 or 30?

Wish list (can't be comprehensive, just a few I think makes sense for Cathay to offer to try to lure some people back, without changing their pricing scheme)

1) Life-time Silver/Gold (1 million miles and 2 million miles respectively)

2) Fix the point-system (F, D, C, I have a more meaningful differentiation to reflect the prices; E gets a slight bump).

3) Bonus Asia miles based on status (silver +10%, Gold +30%, Diamond +50%)

While I have my wish list, too, the notice specifically mentioned only club points.

Segment discriminated points-offerings will only lead to more complains and disillusionment for Cathay elites. In anger this will only force more Cathay elites to fly other airlines, not retain them.

However, if it is a system-wide bump in how points are rewarded, and solve some injustices (like E fare points = Y, B, H, K, fare points? LOL), then it's a good start.

I'm not holding my breath thought.

Just realized QF give so much points for this route... I could make it to OWE last year while now I'm just a MPC SL... I feel like I lost a million BTW, does 3K flight count as the 4 segments required to obtain status on QF?

These basically sum up what i think. CX does give out a paper "this is to certify XXX is with us 1/2 million miles" or something like that, so the data for lifetime status is there, unless they want a CP based lifetime status which makes little sense.

But the email only mentioned CP change/improvement, so yeah I'm not expecting CX to revamp the program.

Off topic for this forum but for Jetstar flights, you need to have a Plus bundle for them to count as an eligible QF flight in the QF program.

Now I know why so many people walk away from MPC... I should follow them in earlier time...

The decision on where to credit my xONEx (50th reunion trip) was decided almost completely on the basis that QFF has a soft landing policy. But I decided to "salvage" CX silver as I perceive the redemption value (and availability) in Asia Miles to be better although mitigated by the earning in QFF as a result of the status bonus. But then I prefer the PEY cabin.

Happy wandering
Fred
