Straight from the article, not confirmed yet;
“We will communicate to our Marco Polo members as soon as the plans are confirmed.”

Does that mean that if I fly 1200 points for 2020 and 2021 I will hit DM on renewal?

If they really renew it, will it just be extending our membership a year longer? So if we aim to hit the mid tier benefits we still have to go the whole 1600? (The most useful one)

Personally, I think the fairest way is to give us 1/12 of the required tier points (or 10% if CX wants to be nicer) for every month where many flights are cancelled and people are unable to travel. For example, 25~30 / 50~60 / 100~120 points for SL / GO / DM, respectively in Feb. and another installment in Mar. If some people get mid-tier benefit as a result, they can think of it as a nice gesture.

I thought it would be easier. No need to change the qualification requirement.

I hope this happens. I'm at 560CP and my renewal for DM comes up July 2020.

With no protests or Corona I'd normally be able to barely make it. (via stretching my club points with MH flights).

Since MPC is based on staggered progression, the additional points would probably better help. Probably time to see if they are willing to up their game.

Depending on how they extend the membership, it might be an opportunity for those who are still travelling, to gain status in another program.
