I was due to fly MEL-HKG CX178 22/8 tonight, couldn't get through the reservations line but saw my flight was changed to 11:15 23/8. Now it's showing departure date as the 25th August which is an extra 2 days, it seems unusually long. I am on hold but just curious if anyone else is getting the same

Hi -

Will the MTR or the Airport Express be running from Hong Kong? Is there a point where the trains stop running?

See that you're now pushed to 2315- Good luck!

I got out on 759 this morning- on time. Wife, on 711, wasn't that lucky- missed standing by for 635 (which left with 'just' an hour's delay) by 5 minutes, only for her flight to have a medical issue that required someone to deplane..and then- 36 planes queued for t/o ahead of their revised slot..3 hrs on the ground couldn't have been much fun!

I think as of now everything is normal - Id guess airport express may not start up in the morning though if it's T8/9?

The Airport Express will keep running during a T8. If it becomes a T9 it will stop.

I guess a slow news day at the Daily Fruit. The HKO is predicting T8 by tomorrow morning. Projected wind speeds nowhere near a T9, much less a T10.

We've boarded for cx715 after an a/c swap and over a 3.5 hour delay. Haven't pushed back from the gate though.

Depends.

Buses use the tunnel section of Tsing Ma Bridge during signal 8 and some taxi drivers may not want to drive under signal 8 or higher (IIRC due to insurance issue).

Just as a data point :
We were booked from SGN-HKG-DXB and our flights changed to cancelled this evening. I got on to the reservations people (eventually) and we are now sitting at the airport waiting for a direct SGN-DXB on Emirates. We will be there about 5 hours earlier than expected. The agent was superb.

I was supposed to fly SUB - HKG - LAX on Wednesday, CX has put me on the same flights but for Saturday, since I need to be in LA by Friday it looks like my only option is the cancel the flights and rebook with SQ,BR or CI.

I called Cathay but because the ticket is owned by Alaska, they can't change anything. Called alaska and they said because I already completed the first leg, nothing can be changed anymore. Not sure what I should do because both parties have told me to contact the other.
Doesn't matter. CX has to reroute you as its their flights that are impacted by the typhoon. You can't call CX in advance to change your flights. You need to find out when you're at the airport or only what CX plans to do for you. If you speak to AS, tell them to put on the res that CX is allowed to change booking in case of IRROP. AAdvantage does that, and when cases of IRROP comes up, CX rebooks as per booking.

Typhoon Hato flights cancelled.

Flying YYZ to OKA found out after arriving in HK that the HKG to OKA leg is cancelled. Everything was booked via Cathay Pacific site so we went to the CP counter. We are Marco Polo Green, they directed us to the Cathay Dragon counter who told us to call the reservation line. After 2 hours of waiting on hold we went back to the desk. After an hour pleading politely for another flight they offered to book us in the 27 (original flight is 23rd) but suggested that we don't book the 27th but rather wait until the 23rd. They said that the airline should contact us and possibly get us on an earlier flight. No food or lodging assistance was offered. They said that we have to fend for ourselves. Still waiting on airside for word. Any idea the best way to proceed?

My AY flight is still due to depart, so I'm enjoying The Wing F with a maximum of 5 people here. Ahh the morning rush.

I am surprised they put you through this; Cathay staff and the airline are seasoned veterans when dealing with cancellations due to typhoons. And the 27th is a LONG way away vs 23rd (today). And they expect you to pay for your accomodations and meals till then?

Hope you have travel insurance.
