Courtesy upgrade, as they now call it is a privilege. It shouldn’t be seen as an entitlement

Absolutely!
Not that Nicc HK said anything about entitlement..

(and the old hands on this board would certainly sympathise with what (s)he has been through- I doubt we have a better example on this forum of ‘totally not expected’, even back when the priority order was quite well known- while you only have my word to trust- it did work quite well for those who played the ‘by status, check-in time being the tie breaker’ game well)

Perhaps you have never read earlier posts by me, my expectation is to fly the class I pay for.

My comment is in response to the thread is that my strike rate is 3%, and I still kept flying CX until the MPC changes meant it no longer made sense.

Perhaps my sense of humour is more 'Carry On' than 'PC'

PS Last time I looked think I am a he, but hey who knows these days

I’m curious where birthday/anniversary/milestone upgrades rank on this list.

In my most humble thinking, j am opined on the idea they come from a different pool, at least that was what the SIN check in agent told me when I was bumped for my five year anniversary last year.

well the upgrade game can be as mysterious as Maleficent these days, You can be rammed full in Y and have empty seats in J, get they still won’t upgrade. Worse still, if you are bumped down a class because your ticketed cabin isn’t operating and you wished they would upgrade as part of damage control.

I don't know how much they spent. But my wife did spend a lot on CX J and F.

but on a full flight, say that their CIV scores are the same, same fare buckets and all...but Gold pax celebrating his birthday, will his Birthday Upgrade trump the upgrade of a DMP/DM

I would assume so. I was SL when I had my 5 year anniversary. Got a 2 class Y to J upgrade. On an elite heavy SIN route, I believe there would be a significant number of GO and DM ahead of me.

While not sure how true it is, I’m surprised that staff get such a high priority and SL has priority over EM.

So OWS and OWR don't even stand a chance these days usually (as opposed to before)? Also, really, "staff" of high priority get more priority than DM/GO? Sounds a bit odd if true.

Thanks! Good to know SL has priority over other oneworld élites.

What do "01J/J1-16J/J16," "01Y/J1-16Y/J16," and "25J/J25- 34J/J34" mean?

Your guess is as good as mine. I suspect J1-J34 are seniorities, 01J-34J and 01Y-16Y are what they're requesting?
