Temporary closure of Cathay Pacific First and Business Class Lounge at Heathrow Airport

As part of our ongoing commitment to enhance our passenger experience, the Cathay Pacific First and Business Class Lounge at Terminal 3, Heathrow Airport, London will be temporarily closed from 26 November 2015 to June 2016 for expansion and renovation.

During this period, we would like to invite Silver, Gold and Diamond members of the Marco Polo Club as well as passengers travelling in First and Business Class to use the lounges of our partner airlines. All lounge invitations will be arranged for you upon check-in.

Reflecting our Life Well Travelled philosophy and our principle of considered design, this renovation follows updates to Cathay Pacific lounges in Tokyo (Haneda), Manila, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Taipei. With the addition of London, we look forward to providing you with an enhanced experience in the near future.

I think people forget that 95+% of eligible OW fliers will never even consider that they can use a different lounge.

The BA F lounge in T3 has historically been much better than the AA F lounge yet I have hardly ever seen AA passengers in there. (I realize the AA F lounge has improved in recent years).

Yes but what people also forget is the amount of readers on here. Eg right now there're 8 members and 56 guests logged into this forum. Now add the same ratios for finnair, ba, and AA forums and you don't need that many ft'ers before this lounge is at the brim.

However, the ba lounge does have a better wine list going for it. But I bet the CX dining room will always be full.

I am hoping that there are tons of people reading and they all go to BA or CX lounges, leaving more space for me at the AA FL. My last couple of trips out of T3 and using the AA FL has been pretty good, several people asking if I needed anything, champagne, order from the menu etc. The lounge is not fancy for sure but the offering (at least in the morning) more than meets my need as the breakfast is more than plentiful in my experience. Perhaps the food etc isnt so great the rest of the day as I do not frequent it typically at that times. I found my experience last week much better at the AA T3 lounge than at the BA T5 GF lounge.

I was supposed to fly out of London this Saturday (JL), but as I added a quick stint in Berlin I am connecting home via Helsinki rather than London. Sad that I don't get to see the new lounge.
(but happy I don't have to do a T5 to T3 connection)

Great news! I'll be there on Monday evening and will report back on the champagne selection if no one else has beforehand.

The official opening, with a small presentation from Cathay management in HK, is on 7 December, but it is fully open now.

I will post some photos once I get a proper computer to play with, but in the mean time, I can explain a bit more about the delay, though my previous comment was fairly accurate.

The new business section runs longer towards gate 11, and involved the removal of a supporting wall. When work started it was discovered that there were unforeseen safety implications from the plumbing and electrical embedded in that wall, that required specialist assistance and a safety sign off. This led to the delay in opening, but it's no longer obvious to guests that there was this engineering problem.

Does anyone know other than cutting the ribbon by CX officials on 7th December, will there be any special events specially for people visiting the lounge on that day?

p.s. A bit of OT but been looking for LHR-HKG to fly out on 7th December in PE in the last 2 days. Realising seat maps of PE are full but PE seats still available for sale. Fares are reasonable and perhaps an op-up heaven.

Thanks for confirming what I guessed about a hundred posts ago.

Regarding the wine selection, I guess it could change once they have their official opening?
