I thought so too, but perhaps discretion can be given when there is an one-way confirmed journey? Or is this a good sign for clearing the return leg?

Final update: The waitlist to PEN didn't clear at last, but as an alternative, I waitlisted KUL and was cleared last minute.

To my surprise, I got upgraded from Y to J on a 77W on my return leg. Never thought of such a "big jump".

I will add F is wide open that day as is PEY. Y is getting "tight", which would serve to help you score the upgrade..provided it doesn't get oversold by too much. Obviously still a few months away and things can change, but if I were betting I'd say your chances are nearly as good as they could be at this point. Certainly above 50pct.

Oh yes, should have taken F and PEY into consideration

Hi everyone I'm new here, I have been waitlisting since November for the following award flight, could someone kindly check the J seats status for me?

4 March 2017 CX254 LHR-HKG

Also, if one of my friends were to separately waitlist for the same flight (also on J class), what are the chances we would both get our awards?

Many thanks!

Hi everyone,

Sorry but can anyone please check the J seats status for me as I am waitlisting for the following award flight below?

- 3rd July 2017: CX549 (HND - HKG)

I would be really appreciated if you could do that for me so that I can know the chances of getting an award ticket for this sector.

Thanks heaps!

Sorry for the ignorance, but what do C, D and I mean? I thought J9 meant there are 9+ seats in J that may be released for awards? Thanks so much!

C, D, and I are subclasses of business class. I believe (and more experienced FTers can verify) that awards typically come out of those buckets, rather than from the full-price J bucket. So, the lack of C/D/I availability means that it isn't likely that a waitlist will clear.

C, D and I are discounted business, if they are sold out, that could imply the biz cabin is very full and the chance for award is slim.
