Pressconference at the top of the hour from YYZ according to CNN here in Europe.

My prayers are also with the people onboard this AF flight out of CDG.

I believe it's an Air France A340 airbus arriving from Paris.

On another thread AB320 was stuck in YOW because of the red alert in YYZ, so it shoudn't have landed unless the aircraft was going mechanical and couldn' wait to land...

CNN is speculating windshear which would mean a crash. A340 with 200 passengers.

Sad. Somewhere, someone posted earlier today this was an anniversary of the L1011 windshear crash at DFW, 20 years ago? And I was just thinking, at least that crash experience made flying in storms safer...well...

Hope all are OK, somehow.

watching on tv now, and it looks like the entire plane is on fire. Lots of emergency vehicles. I hope all are ok onboard.

Yes, it has been confirmed as Air France 358. Eye witness is reporting lightening strike hitting the plane as it was landing.

For what it's worth - my office is right across the street from Pearson. At the approximate time this plane was landing, incredibly dark skies and ridiculous amounts of rain falling, in addition to the lightening.

Let's hope and pray for everyone on this flight.
