Note: in many cases there are shorter walks available to either nearby public transport that may be cheaper than the more expensive trains to the airport, or to nearby attractions. If you edit this wiki, please post those as well.

AGP - approx. 40 minutes from Holiday Inn Express, which is the nearest airport hotel

DAL - downtown(2h) or take bus 524 for free to Inwood Station and then walk. Costs $2.50 TO DAL.

I personally did:
MES: Medan-Indonesia
IGU: Iguazù- Brazil (far from the town, close to the falls and all hotels)
SDU: Rio-Brazil (closeby Botafogo and Flamengo beaches)
ANC: Anchorage - Alaska
FAI: Fairbanks - Alaska
LCA: Larnaca - Cyprus
NAN: Nadi - Fiji
This is interesting.
Would you mind to draw the path on a map please?
I'd rather walk than pay the extortionate ticket of the AirportLink.
Never say never.
If you're fit for the marathon, the 30 km. to Rome center are nothing to worry about

MAD
OK, this is one weird airport - though not the only one in Europe where terminals can be miles apart
With a 6 a.m. departure ( ) decided to try something different
Arrived day before at T4 (Czech Airlines) hopped on the Metro to go to the Madrid suburb of Barajas (where MAD gets part of its name) and walked to find a hotel. Sure enough, found a very nice clean mom and pop establishment for 30 Euros a night (actually 35, but as I was waffling the lady offered an instant discount to entice me)
Took Metro to Puerta del Sol and wondered around, then took Metro back to hotel, only got off at MAD T 1/2/3 station, and looked for a route I found on Google Maps and had confirmed at the terminal by employees.
Sure enough, slightly uphill, and a little over 15 minutes to the hotel (and some are closer). Reversed direction at 4 a.m. and made it in just over 15 minutes this morning with my two medium to small backpacks

In Valencia (VLC), you can exit the airport on the left side, walk till the first turnaround (which just comes at the end of the parking lot after about 500m), and cross the main double lane road (which you can't cross before) - then "go back" on the other side, after you've literally passed the airport on the other side of the double lane road, you'll reach the first metro stop. If you dare (especially when low traffic) you can also cross the double lane road in front of the airport, saving about 1.2km to walk. You'll save 1.8€ by doing this by taking the metro from the first stop, as apparently the 300m of rail is worth 2 extra zones on the metro system.. (You can save even more if you get a 10-trip-ticket or something like that)

More walking
Following on from my last post, I've subsequently walked from DOH into the old city centre along the Corniche (and then on to the new city centre as I had time to kill). There's a path all the way and once you hit the Corniche, it's fully pedestrianised and rather pleasant with lots of trees and a few cafes. This won't be as easy when the new airport opens though.
I also flew into AEP in Buenos Aires last month and while I considered it possible to walk into the city centre from here, I decided it was safer to take the inexpensive public bus (33 or 45).
RAR, as previously mentioned, is also very walkable, and very safe.
Someone else asked about GUM... while there's no pavement alongside the road from the terminal, there is a grassy verge suitable for walking and once you get to the main road, there's a path. I would suggest it would take no more than 30 minutes to walk to the beach.

EmailKid, off to MAD in a couple of weeks, so may walk to terminal again
And most likely to walk to DAL as well, unless the Texas summer heat is with us

I know Billy Bishop Toronto Island Airport was already mentioned but they actually are in the process of constructing a pedestrian tunnel from the mainland to the airport so it will literally be walkable from downtown. As it stands right now you have to wait for a free ferry that takes about 1 minute to cross the channel-- it's kind of annoying because the distance is so close but you may have to stand on a line for 15 minutes or so to wait for it to arrive.
But they even have banners up that say something along the lines of "Walk to the airport? You can!" and have a Bixi bike-share station in front of the entrance, which people actually do use. So they are one of the few airports that seems to "get it" when it comes to accessibility, and isn't caught in this homeland security fear-induced insanity that seems to push airports to the fringes of civilization and surround their grounds by miles of pedestrian-hostile asphalt...

I'm just back from Key West. I was driving, but it seemed easy enough to walk from EYW to Duval Street in about 45 minutes. Just exit the airport and turn right at the breakwater to get into town.
