you go and select your current Barclaycard and then “change to a different card” option (in the app the path should be: quick links > cards> “select your card” > change to a different card.
And that comes up with an error.

Can you please clarify if this enhanced bonus will be for new accounts also ? If so, I will hang fire. Hopefully the "short window" does not mean that the Barclaycard system will be overwhelmed again !

Still No Card

Feb 28: Initially I was unable to apply due to issues with the Barclaycard website, I eventually managed to successfully apply after COB. It took 3 attempts, spread out across the day.

Mar 1: Confirmation email - card and PIN are in the post and will arrive separately within 3 – 5 working days.

Mar 7: Welcome to your new card email.

Mar 8: Text message- Barclaycard Avios cards are flying off the shelf and it won't be long until you'll have yours - it'll be with you in the next few days.

Mar 8: How to pay for your online shopping email.

Mar 9: Pin arrives in post.

Mar 9: Action – activate your Barclaycard today email.

Mar 9: Action – activate your free Apple subscriptions email.

Mar 13 : Your statement is here email. Can't access the statement as I don't know my card number.

Mar 14: Still no card so I called Barclaycard at about 07:15 on 08001510900. The automated answering system asks for my card number. Obviously I can't enter this as my card has not arrived. It is possible to skip this by pressing *. After approx. 50 minutes on hold I got through. The person I spoke with was able to find my account but she could not access it. Ended up on hold again while she contacted a specialist team. It seems she was using a chat facility to talk with someone else in Barclaycard, it’s a painfully slow process. Apparently the card was issued on Mar 1. So they assume it is lost in the post and are issuing a new card. The wait for the new card is 4-5 days, so circa Mar 18. I asked about the statement as I could not access it. There is a £20 membership charge on my account already, I asked for this to be removed as it doesn’t make sense to charge me for a card that has not been activated. £20 has been refunded to my card. The person I spoke with confirmed the 3 month welcome period started on Feb 28. Apparently card policy means this cannot be changed or delayed. This seems grossly unfair as I have no card yet and probably won’t receive the replacement card until Mar 18 but they weren’t budging on it. I was on the call for 1 hour 15.

For anyone else who has not received your card, I suggest ringing as soon as you can as the clock is ticking on the welcome bonus.

Similar story.

1st March. Applied and was told further checks need to be made.

A few days later noticed that the account had appeared in my Barclays app suggesting I'd been accepted, no actual comm from Barclaycard.

8th March. Text stating that cards are flying off the shelf.

10th March. Email asking me to activate the card.
10th March. PIN letter arrived.

11th March. Email announcing my statement had arrived.
11th March. Further email asking me to activate the card.

13th March. Email stating my card would be with me soon.

Interesting that this timeline means they've issued a statement they know I can't access, for a product they've not yet supplied, both of which they confirm in the email of the 13th stating my card would be with me soon.

Can't think of another card, and I've had many, where the first statement has been sent so early in the process, and when clearly the card hasn't been received.

Sure I could call them, but they're a joke, I'll milk the Avios while it suits, but like the 'Premier Banking' the customer experience is going to be very poor based on how this has started.

Question

Hey all

Tried their 'Eligibility Checker' - (soft credit search only, doesn't go on my file) and got rejected.... despite having good income, being a Barclays Premier customer and not missing a payment on any of my current CCs ever.

I do have c £25k on two 0% cards (I have had for donkey's years, keep surfing it at 0%, I use it as my cheap car finance!) - it's not stopped me being accepted for other points/rewards CCs over the years (Amex BAPP, Lloyds Avios, IHG etc) -

Couple of queries for your kind thoughts:
1. do you think the 0% balances would be enough for them to shy away? They are probably at 80% of their credit limit. My other 'spending cards' are never more than 10-20% of credit limit during a month, and get always get cleared in full each month without incurring interest.
2. Has anyone else been rejected by the eligibility checker and ploughed on with a full application and got accepted? Don't want a needless hard search on my credit file :-)

Cheers all

UT

Exact same timeline as you, down to the day. It seems almost everyone who applied on 28 Feb / 1 March has this same issue. One commenter on HFP (as I'm sure you've seen ) even mentioned the agent said the card said the card was never going to arrive, and it wasn't "lost on the post".

Given Barclays seems well aware of the issue, and the scale of the amount of people affected, and that they're charging people for services not rendered, that cannot possibly have been, it seems borderlime criminal that they have been entirely silent on the matter, and seemingly not even informed agents.

(Rob's been suspiciously silent on the matter too, but perhaps understandable if he is in contact with Barclays.)

This is somehow even worse than when Lloyds launched their AMEX / MC duo and created several new Avios accounts for me.

I'm currently on hold after calling 0800 1510900 trying to find out when my card will arrive. I have the letter telling me my PIN but no sign of the card. So far I have been holding for 30 minutes....

After being on the phone for over an hour I have been told that I should have my card by the end of the week.

There's a dedicated number for Avios Plus cards - 0800 161 5309.

I called and got through after only 30 seconds of holding. The agent said they'd received a memo this morning advising of a supply issue with the new cards, and to reassure any customers who call up that cards will be sent out ASAP. I asked how long approximately, and she said "the memo doesn't indicate how big the delay is - sorry I can't advise how much longer it will be". Gave my account number and she was able to confirm that a card number WAS generated/issued on the 6th March, but the card not been printed yet due to supply issues.

Tick tock...

Same time lines as above for me after being accepted with a GBP xx,xxx limit on 01.03.22.

Decided to jack this one in and after 30 minutes of giving them my details (note no card received yet)....on hold....further details.....on hold.....further details.....on hold...further details requested including inside leg measurement and shoe size....they couldn't locate my details. Note though they managed to send multiple e-mails and send me a PIN number by post.

Said they would send me a complaint form by e-mail (and promise of compensation for wasted time)...not received (can't blame that on the post). Mentioned they needed to organise a refund for the GBP 20.00 fee already billed - why are they trying to organise a refund for something I cannot pay (no card number so unable to set up an account) and which I have no intention of paying anyway. I suspect this will run a little more...

The fact that we had to hit the target within 2 months under their rules (as opposed to 3 months as advertised) smells of bad faith frankly.

Wouldn't touch this lot with a bargepole again. Back to the trusty BA Amex...

What a total shambles! Very grateful to the other posters here though as it's saved me bothering calling to chase up. The worst bit is them saying the card fee and 3 month countdown will start from when they approved the application rather than when it is actually activated - if this was only a couple of days apart then no problem, but not when it's weeks. The number of emails being sent by them is laughably high, at this rate they'll start being automatically flagged as spam!

On a related Barclays note I see the Rewards section of my Prem account is showing that I've now met the 12 month mark for the voucher but they've not actually notified me of this - the page also still shows as not being linked to my BAEC account with no balance update since October (despite trying relinking). Barclays and BA IT - they're clearly a match made in heaven

PS yet another 2 emails just now - one to activate my non-existent card, the other a bit more useful as it provides the personalised free Apple services signup link (although they recommend using your Barclaycard when signing up it looks like it isn't a requirement). It appears you can sign up to different ones at different times, full FAQs at https://www.barclaycard.co.uk/person...mer/apple-faqs
