The security highlight was the loader insisting we put our toiletry bags together in one tray...it got pulled and we got attitude for doing that. The OH stopped me from demanding to see their passes
Boarding seems to work well by row blocks, at least.

Security was awful with a couple of members of staff with a real attitude problem.
thankfully the F lounge ordering works well and delivery was super fast so were able to grab a coffee and pain au chocolate.
Delighted that GVA is C63. 😬😬
Honestly my worst Heathrow experience in recent times. Other than the speedy F lounge that has been an shambles. Can’t wait for boarding...

God they are atrocious aren’t they? Let me guess, increased capacity from today, a leisure travel day but they never put two and two together that more people would check in bags. With people like this running the show, how that airline has never had a fatal crash still amazes me to this day.

An American passenger was ejected from first wing security for arguing at how awful it all was. Tray handed to him and escorted back out.
They really needed to open the second security line. That would have significantly eased the flow.
Flounge staff and service was exemplary. Lightening fast...which was lucky given the shambles in getting there.

We still have long queues to get into our Sainsbury at peak times on Saturdays. Not sure why the expectation should be any different at the airport on the first day of school summer holidays.

HAL has furloughed or laid off a significant number of staff. The number of flights is still a fraction of what it was pre-Covid. Opening more security lanes presumably can’t be justified yet. So there will be queues at peak times. Such is life.

Think it's a surprise for some, as for the past couple months or so, all the reports on FT have pretty been about how quick and easy things were at T5.
It's all positive though, as it shows that things are getting back to, somewhat, normal.
On the specifics of the line to the first wing, I've never seen that.

I don’t think 5 mins (normal) or 10 (peak) turning into an hour is acceptable. Nowhere else I have been in the last month has had a queue longer than a minute - shop or otherwise. The holidays, the relaxation of travel rules, the higher loads were not a surprise...
Pleasant flight and on time arrival and hopefully the Swiss can still run their national infrastructure 😉

Is that how long it took? Agree,, I just couldn't do that.
They must have been taken by surprise by how many customers.
Edit. Just saw your point about that they should have known.
Bad effort by the airport in that case.

Yes all doom and gloomers don’t understand human psychology and the fact that not everyone will self isolate at home until a vaccine.
LHR clearly need to bring more staff, surely they can estimate the amount of travellers using the airport that day by knowing how many flights there are and how many people are on them?

No, I think FCO advice now is
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office currently advises British nationals against all but essential international travel.Travel to some countries and territories is currently exempted.
Which I read as generally non essential international travel is advised against, unless it’s on the long list of exemptions.
