A lot of people have said for a while on Flyertalk they wanted a smaller F cabin.

Yes, but I believe most of those who posted that were likely posting under the expectation that this would facilitate a better F seat rather than the same F as currently just with less seats!

Relieved! As nice as the new J seat appears to be, I’m sure I’ll be happier with the space and exclusivity of the First seat and cabin.

Indeed.

Youd need to be a tad strange to prefer a dorm full of 50 odd seats with 30% less space!

A newer First seat is on its way, but we won’t see that for a while.

Except that it's highly unlikely F passengers have paid the same fare as they saw J advertised for, the point is that they have paid a premium to be in F which needs to be deemed to provide adequate value or they will just pay for J instead. BA need to be careful that they don't potentially risk F becoming 'upgrade class' on this aircraft, as AA's international F frequently is.

Given the refrain which is posted again and again here that BA's F has '30% more space' than other reverse herringbone seats I'd also note that BA's F on the 747/777 makes poor use of the extra space (as an aside I'm not sure how they can both have 30% more space given the 747 seat clearly has much less personal space than the 777 to me). The seat may take up 30% more floor space than Club Suites but that doesn't mean there is 30% more usable space for the passenger - it has zero storage, poorly place power outlets and a lot of wasted space (e.g. by the window). This is before you consider whether there is any benefit to the privacy impact of the Club Suite door.

Indeed, I look forward to that and the sooner the better.

Hopefully it will see the return of the Z position. I really miss that from old first, especially now I am regularly flying revenue F instead of the occasional UuA.

Any live pictures for the new F on the 777? I think most people in F should have boarded the plane.

I think the way this tends to work on the 787-9 is that 1A&K are blocked whereas 1E&F are not.

That's the way it works on all the BA aircraft with an F cabin. Only 1A and 1K are reserved for Golds, the rest of Row 1 (to the extent it exists) is available for selection by anyone with a confirmed reservation in the F cabin.

It is confirmed - the new First Class seat on the 777-200 is the same as the 787-9 First class seat!

Boo! My least favourite for sleeping and space. I thought they were reupholstering the original 'New First' B777 seat (in B789 colors) rather than putting in the B789 seat.

Yes and I thought it was suggested up thread the seats would retain the buddy dining too, but that would seem incompatible with the 789 F seat?

I'm hoping the new colour scheme caused confusion and in fact what we have is the reupholstered B777 seat with surroundings tweaked.

If it is the 789 seat I hope they have improved the build quality and that the foot rest can be lowered.

Not sure if there has been some confusion but there is NOT a new First seat yet. From an internal source the following has taken place in F:
  • New foams and fabrics
  • Deep clean
  • Cosmetic damage rectified
  • New seat identification plagues as seen on the 787-9
