could you please go into a little more detail about this? Why would you remove a tail skid. Thanks!

I believe the 777-300 now has software to prevent an accidental tail strike (think MCAS, except the crashing bit). So the skid guard is no longer required, which saves a lot of weight.

Pilots can override by pulling back hard, which may still cause a tail strike. But they would only be doing that in an emergency anyway, like an obstruction on the runway, so a tail strike will be the lesser problem.

PIP = Performance Improvement Package. As far as I understand, Boeing's PIP 2.0 involves retrofits that, among other things, replace the tail skid with a smaller, more aerodynamic reinforcement that is flush with the fuselage.

Anybody know when they (potentially) open up the F seats for J selection on the ex-LGW aircraft?

Flying LHR-MCO this Saturday with a +1 on a separate booking who has no seat selection yet (Blue) and the CW cabin looks like its full (no available seats for selection)...

Upgraded 777-200 (YMMT) running the MCO route today. First time a CS aircraft has run that route since June 1st. Not sure if CS is being thrown into the rotation for MCO or is it’s just one of the three Gatwick aircraft being down for service. G-VIIW flew the route Saturday but hasn’t flown since.

Definitely not for the benefit of MCO. Will be for operational reasons.

LAX 77Ws have been 90% of the time CS since over a month. Adding in that the other flight of the day is with the A35K, it's a safe-ish destination for CS.

And should be safer in October, unless it shifts to an A380.

the G-YMMT flew once again to MCO today 6/21/22, GVIIW is on her way to YYZ and them is schedule to DOH.
BA should use CS on MCO-LHR route since they are flying the old club world to LGW, Virgin is flying the A35K on the route so they need to step in on the game.

Today's BA113 LHR-JFK and the return BA114 JFK-LHR has been swapped from a CS 77W to a 77G with the old Club World seats. FR24 showing it's G-STBB.

Noticed during OLCI my seat had changed from 5A (which I was very happy to have secured) to 14D, then opened the seat map and realised it's now a CW config aircraft.

I've tried to do a Same Day Change in MMB to move to an earlier or later flight but it gets an error and says I need to call BA to make any changes. Perhaps I'll ask nicely at the airport?

SIN in Dec

Hello,

Booked on a flight from LHR to SIN on a 777. How likely is this flight to have club suites?

Thanks
