The aircraft in question are still in their unrefurbished 77J configuration. So, old Rockwell Collins IFE and 9 abreast in economy. They were originally planned to be refurbished to 77S configuration with 10 abreast in economy but retain Club World, in line with the other LGW frames.

Thank you both for the info. So all BA 777's (LHR & LGW based) are being upgraded from CW to CS?

Nope, the B77S configuration (32J) based at Gatwick will remain with Club World seats. Only Heathrow aircraft will be upgraded to Club suites.
There are 3 odd-ball 4-class B777 aircraft which had Club World refreshes before Covid and retain 14 seat First class cabins, but post Covid Gatwick has lost First, so these aircraft are currently operating from Heathrow on specific routes and BA is happy to use them as other B777’s head to Cardiff for the Club Suite upgrade, but eventually BA will want all LHR based aircraft to be CS fitted, so we’ll see what happens to these 3 off-balls then!

As Prof said, 77W is the designation for the 777-300ER version. Currently BA281 on 4th August is supposed to be CS (as per Expertflyer).

Technically 773 is 777-300 (which don't feature in the BA fleet of course) and 77W is 777-300ER

I’m guessing STBG took a bit longer because it had the 77W PIP upgrade installed (tail skid removed etc etc) as with the G-STBA, BB, BD and BF. I think only BE should have the tail skid still installed.

What do we think is the end game with the gatwick 777s? (including those on loan to heathrow)

There are currently no plans to refit them I believe.

Will they just run them another 10 years with old club world and then scrap them?

Will older heathrow ones then start to filter into Gatwick?

thoughts?

I think what will probably happen is that the LGW frames will continue in their current form until the end of their useful life cycles. Then BA will probably move the newer 3 class LHR frames (the RR versions) over time as the LGW frames make their way out and replace them possibly with either 3 class 787-9/10s or A359s at LHR. Of course BA could do the complete opposite but I think that's not as likely.

On an unrelated note, Etihad announced a new(ish) Business Class seat for their new batch of 787s, and it’s a Collins product with a door. This comes hot on the heels of their A350s being unveiled and having a door; so did Air France and KLM.

it almost seems as if BA had been - God forbid - a trend setter! Perhaps the one good thing done by Alex?
