On an A350, does the mini cabin get served separately from the main cabin which I remember starts from row 1 so if seated in row 11 you have to wait a long time for your meal?

Prior to BA getting the A350 and the rollout of CS I tended to prefer the in-flight experience of newer designs i.e. A380 or B787 over the 777s.

Curious how folks rate the experience of the 772/773 with CS over A380/B787 with CW?

A350 would be the obvious choice if available (haven't yet seen it on SFO-LHR) but failing that what would be your order of preference?

CS is significantly better than CW in almost all regards regardless of the plane. You'll also be happier with a seat that is showing less wear and tear. The only thing potentially worth complaining about is having your foot in a confined box when sleeping, but YMMV. I've never found the foot boxes of any Collins Aerospace Super Diamond seats intolerable and barely notice them.

Note, BA B78X also have CS but BA is only flying two of these frames.

Sounds like you're on the winter BA 268 schedule, which as the A380 all winter. Very low chances of aircraft type change at this moment so you're likely stuck with CW on this flight.

LAX 777 flights have been 95%+ CS. Maybe switch to BA 280 or BA 282?

You are GGL so you'll get served first regardless of row number.

Good insights - thank you! It looks like BA284 is usually a 772, occasionally 773, so good chance of CS although reward seats hard to come by. Haven't seen a Dreamliner on that route recently and SJC flights seem to be 788 and 789s.

Ona recent trip, I traveled both on a 777 with CS and a 787 with the older CW seats so I can offer a direct comparison. The 787 CW seats are still very comfortable and I have always liked them. But the 777 is completely transformed by the CS. Not only is it comfortable but there is so much more space for stowing phones, headphones, water bottles etc. Not having to fiddle with the two-piece leg rest is definitely a nice improvement.

Flying LHR-MCO with my wife and two young kids on 4th August. Booked all the way back in September last year when it was showing as the new A350 with CWS. Shortly after this reverted to a 777 with CW, which had remained that way until I just checked this morning when it has changed back to the 777 double-cabin CWS (outbound).

Given we’re now 14 days out from departure, what are the chances of things staying this way? Would it be unusual for BA to switch aircraft two weeks out, and then switch again in the interim?

Looking at the seat map, there are relatively limited spots where all four of us can sit close to one another. On that basis, I’m just about prepared to bite the bullet and fork out £400 to book our seats, but in the event the aircraft was changed again and our seats were different, would I get my money back?

Thanks!

The aircraft can change at any time up to and including the day of departure. So it's up to you if you want to take that risk. I'm sure you can apply for a refund if seats get changed.

Just to add to this, having looked at the days around your departure, the Tuesday / Thursday (your flying day) / Saturday etc, have a 4-class B777-200ER with Club Suites operating the LHR - MCO sectors in a 3-class configuration (First is currently closed off), so I am more inclined to think CS will stick on your flight as it is a deliberate aircraft rotation for that week (I only looked at that week) vs it being the only CS flight in a pattern of old CW operated sectors which would make it more susceptible to change. Enjoy the trip!

Thank you. In that case I may bite the bullet and book some seats. Appreciate you taking the time.

Our BA016 SYD-LHR in November has been changed from a 789 to a 773 with QS, it looks like this is an equipment change for W2022.

Downside is the 789 has been moved to the BA011/012 SIN only cycle, which we a flying in Jan/Feb.

Wishful thinking? It think this should be CS, unfortunately BA have not installed QSuites on their aircraft yet

Further to my posts two or three above, can anyone recommend the best seats in a CWS config from those available for a family of four with two kids aged 8 and 6?

I’m thinking two window seats and two aisle seats, in front of one another, but are there any disadvantages to sitting at the back of the cabin? I can’t find the relevant seat map on Seatguru.

Thanks!

Ref the seat map, you can see it the wiki in this thread, it looks like the 77M seat map. The back of the cabin backs on to WT+, so you should be fine in terms of avoiding issues like the toilet / gallery disturbing things.
