Sooo... had a chat with the lady and, after breaking it all down, it made total sense to book LHR-CPT in First for £3582... That's £895.50 per seat per person each way. £400 deposit down and I'll worry about the rest later.

Now to work out if 1A/K is the best seat on the 747 for a couple...

£3.5k is good, Did you part pay with Avios to get it down from 4k?

Personally 1A and 1K on the 747 is the best seats int he house, Close enough and private.

Can’t use Avios part pay on the phone, however with a car rental it is around £3,600 for two

There's a BA Holidays deal until the 10th. Adding a car adds £555 discount for a week's stay.

I did look at saving £700 with 134,000 Avios, but the small holiday promo was a far better option. It's not possible to discount the holiday using Avios, sadly.

Came across return Business class flights from London to Washington DC for £1332.71 earlier if anyone is interested. This was for flights going in January 2019.
Seems cheap to me as it isn't much more than they usually charge in WT+

These fares have been loaded for a while in the New Year (six months advance purchase) with most of the US covered from London around £1300-£1400

LAX slightly more, East Coast slightly less. Ex-LHR and rest of UK slightly more expensive but still great value and can also be open-jawed with an ex-INV outbound for cheapest price. Appears to require departure and return Monday-Wednesday.
Only departure dates this works for in April seems to be Thurs. Saying that, April was completely blocked from these sale fares a week ago so I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens.

What's the cheapest New York business class at the moment? I can see ex-INV for around £1700 - is there anything much better than that at the moment?

I have just booked JER-LON-NYC-LHR for £1200 in March. Have to get yourself from Gatwick to Heathrow unless you are happy with the Gatwick flight to NYC (I upgraded to First so wanted the CCR). Seem to be available from mid January onward departing on a Tue/Wed/Thur only.

First time poster but long time lurker. Am looking for help trying to fly to PUJ in February in Business Class for a reasonable cash price. Am happy to do exEU or stop in the US. Can only find flights around £1800 each at the moment. Any help on routings that would bring this down would be appreciated.

Welcome to the board MrsBNow I am sure one of the ambassadors will be by soon to give you a formal greeting.

A quick check of ex-EU on Kayak found BCN-MIA-PUJ return for 1535 GBP from 7-16 February on IB ticket, flights operated by AA.

If you don’t mind flying AF to SDQ, you can avail yourself of LHR-CDG-SDQ on AF777 for 1602 GBP with wide open availability in February.
