Beergate: A Summary
Two males were observed removing free beer (estimated to be c.20 cans of an unknown brewer) from the First Lounge (South) at London Heathrow's Terminal 5 on Friday 30th June 2017 between the hours of noon and approximately 17:00. The two men are white and probably have in excess of 1600 Tier Points.
200 outraged posts on an airline-related online forum then wasted at least 1000 man-hours of British industry at a cost of over £100 due to middle-ranking executives having not much better to do than comment on this feat of potential drinking whilst being flown.
Anybody with any news on this treasonable crime should not bother calling CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111. A reward of 6 cans of beer is available should the original beer cans be recovered.
Police are uninterested in talking to anyone in the vicinity at the time.

So basically there are three camps on this issue
1. These people are monsters and should be hung, drawn and quartered
2. These people are heros by sticking it to BA
3. Meh.

The video has been cut and the OP did say he saw them carrying out three beer runs.

I'm unfamiliar with UK laws too, but can't imagine they're that much different than the US. And in the US, I really don't see how in the world it would be a crime.
They're private citizens, not a government agency or location. Why would the police get involved? How do reporters film anything?
At best, maybe you're thinking their private rights are violated? But that's a civil case, not a criminal. Still, they're in public. Again, think about reporters and filming in public and how they don't get in trouble. That's also the reason police can scan license plates. If it's in public, people can film away. You don't have "rights" to privacy when you're in public.

Good luck to all involved in the investigation, I doubt anyone on here will find the outcome but it's a good vent opportunity nonetheless. In fact having read about how last week's intoxicated skater had a BA escort to his plane I imagine brooms and carpets might be the order of the day.
A thoroughly cunning stunt really.

Whether it's conclusive proof the two swillers were up to no good or not will never be known.
At least the story included some video of the event which makes it that more believable than some of the stuff you read on here.

If I had witnessed this, it wouldn't have taken me three beer runs to determine my course of action. Either move on it or deem it unworthy of involvement. But most likely, I wouldn't wait, let them make off with the loot, and only then report it.
Had they not left, how many more runs would they've made before you reported them? Or had you already decided to let them leave first?
For me, it's either take action or not even pay attention. But allowing three different runs for a total of 20+ cans and only moving on it after they leave...well, why bother? At that point they've gotten away with it and the damage is done and I'd only feel worse for revealing it to others that I actually allowed them to get away with it.

And for the math, conservative estimate: 2 runs x 2 men x 5 beers each + last run 4 beers > 20 beers
Second run:

As usual the pro-BA / anti-BA split emerges (as it must), with the thoughtful addition of the meh factor
