** AA Domestic First on two cabin will earn business TPs and avios for departures on or after 11 January 2017 - see reference posts for more details **

** Note that the practice of AA Domestic 3-class service flights booking into A for 210 TPs when I was no longer available ceased in September 2017. Discussion here. **

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. The guide to using ITA matrix in post #4 (see here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seems the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520. Also the BA fare for LHR-HEL-TLL at ~£235 is still available and would get 200 TPs for a return.

Not the greatest deal in the world, but spurred on by a deal posted in the PFD forum, I was playing around with the HEL-PVR fare.

It may be useful to someone at £1.96/TP - total £1,570 for 800 TPs (first attachment).

I can squeeze this to 840 TPs with some creative routing in the US for a total £1,663 - £1.98/TP (second attachment).

You can optimise the itineraries for more optimum connections.

Any reason to add an extra stop on HEL-XXX-LHR? HEL-LHR earns the same as HEL-ARN-LHR anyway, and you might be able to squeeze in another (e.g., SFO to keep the transcon metal) for an additional 40 TP each way?

No, particular reason, except I was looking at this for a friend and a transfer in ZRH means a night at home instead.

Of course, HEL-LHR would yield the same in TPs, but the ZRH is at the expense of another sector elsewhere.

Plenty of options on this one I think

Something like this would yield 880 TPs for £1,728 or £1.96/TP.

Having managed to sort Silver for another year, wouldn't mind making the leap to Gold once and for all. I used to see trips to HNL from DUB that could get almost 1000 TPs for not a crazy number of flights. I'm guessing do it in one might be a bit of a push, but 2 runs?

Ideas welcome :-)

(London based with time on my hands).

I'm in the same boat... made it to silver (well, will have done when I return from the trip I am currently on!!!) through flights I was doing anyway but now think Gold is possible with one or two TP runs. I won't do it through my normal flying... I don't fly for business.

Ideas also welcome.

(Live in Plymouth but consider myself London Based for the purposes of flying as not many affordable options out of Newquay, Exeter or Bristol)

PS I'll need 620 I think.

Qatar have just pushed a one night sale offer to me. Possible 560 TP for £1kish to destinations in Asia as long as you don't mind positioning London to EU. Fares are released at 8pm (but not sure whose 8pm!)

Long Time Member who hasn't been active for many years and just looking through the latest threads with some amazing TP Runs.

I am planning a trip to PVG around 22/23.03.2018 staying there for 4-5 days and then spending 10 days in SGN returning back home to LHR around 7.04.2018 - any routing/offers in Business that pop in mind that could workout as a bargain and lots of TP? Trying to maintain Silver!!! Many thanks in advance

Whilst there are many people in this thread very willing to help, it is good when posters take a 'help yourself first' type of approach. Search for the deals, or use the ones already posted, and come back with some ideas and we are happy to assist in refining the routing and fares to optimise. Openly asking someone else to do all of the legwork for you is a bit off, in my opinion

Then don't help us!

I am not asking for others to do the legwork instead of me doing it... I have spent hours and hours on itaMatrix looking... and not finding. Yes, there are some ideas already posted but when I look for them on them online I can't find them so I assume they are no longer available. I was going to book a CAI - HNL then they pulled the plug on that (see my posts to that thread).

I thought this was a friendly forum with people willing to help and for the most part that is true... except you it seems.

So... rather than having a go at me when you have absolutely no idea how hard I have tried to find something already perhaps you could just leave it for those that do want to help us beginners without the unfriendly attitude.

Thanks.

I would strongly suggest that you check my posting history in this thread, the Premium Fares thread and also over on the Premium Fare Deals forum to determine if I am unwilling to help

LOL!

Not a lot of willingness to help there was there. I know you help others... just wonder what we have done to deserve such a rebuke.

Anyway... enough of this idle chitchat... I am currently in Doha after a failed attempt to book a TP run resulted in me running out of time and so I booked a WT+ fare DOH - LHR and UuA to CW just to get away. When I am back next week I shall stop pestering you and get down to find something on my own.

Last time I ask for help here if that is how we are treated when we do

Starting to look into TP runs for the first time in my life and this thread is incredibly helpful. I tend to have time on my hands at short notice only so planning trips for March 2018 does not work for me.

In your experience, how short in advance can you book to get sub £2 per TP? Can something ever be found at a week’s notice, a month?
