Seems logical if not rather depressing.

I reckon the A320 densification of 180 seats is 'up to' - so they'd still keep the middle seat free in the CE cabin. If they don't that's pretty much the end for eurobiz

I've been expecting club UK for a while now. I wonder when fares will start to be loaded for it.

Presumably with BOB, there won't be a need for a galley at the back of the aircraft so they could put the toilets there, and then squeeze a row of seats in there. Not sure where the other 6-seats will come from, other than taking space from the rest of the cabin.

Yes, that was the wording I couldn't believe I saw on the rapidly retracted first slide.
A Ratner moment putting a sneering expletive on the screen as a preamble to announcing customer comfort cutbacks through densification and service cuts (sorr"unbundling"). Dear me, where has the pride and class of Sir Colin gone?

Markets not happy with that. Going after the LCCs with a legacy business and cost base. Smart move.

If you don't have a galley where are you going to store the BOB?

My biggest concern from BAs downward trend is that more pax will fly the competition and it will get more expensive for the likes of me. I enjoy my LH trips for a fraction of the BA cost.

Last week I had a meal at 17:50 and it wasn't afternoon tea. Incredible.

218? Why not go to 220 on the A321. It's not like pax are getting fatter and taller .

Quite.

The 12 x 777-300ERs at Heathrow are also being converted - roughly half the number being converted.

It is disingenuous to make 'Gatwick' the headline number - this will not merely affect leisure passengers going to Orlando once per year.

RE: the "25 777s" is this the balance of yet-to-be-refitted 777-200s?

That's the Gatwick fleet (GE & RR powered) and the RR powered 777-200ERs (which were also reported to be reconfigured to 3-class throughout?). There's 28 aircraft according to BA Source with the Rockwell Collins IFE and old seats still. http://www.thebasource.com/boeing777-200er.html

Essentially assume the following...

All LGW flights
All 3-class 777-200 flights from LHR (BKK, EZE, NAS, GCM, BLR etc.)

Looks like the 777-300ERs will escape with 9-abreast (for now).

My last 2 returns PAR-LHR-JNB cost my company £1600 and £1800 in Y. For that I will next year be asked to pay for my drinks and food and seated in a cramped Euro traveler cabin. Sorry BA you've taking to far. It is pity I have reached Gold.

Now it is going to be AF. Decent food and service. And on top of that, AF let's you double upgrade to Business Class from Economy...

But there are 46 772s, how many are 3 class?

Ignore me, just seen the other post.

BA reducing CE/ET legroom by increasing seats

BA announced today in their Capital Markets Day presentation that they will be increasing the number of seats in their shorthaul aircraft.

A320 goes from 168 to 180 seats by winter 2017
A321 goes from 205 to 218 seats by summer 2018

This will bring BA into line with low cost carriers such as Easyjet and Thomas Cook.

Thomas Cook have 220 seats in an A321 and a 5'10" chap fits in thus:

This is what a 180 seat A320 looks like. It isn't pretty but as you can see additional capacity can be achieved at the back without ripping out the forward bulkhead.

In terms of the 10 abreast 777s, I can't believe FTers are surprised.

The competition have been doing it since last year, so it was surely only a matter of time before BA followed suit.

In terms of the 787-9s, the report seems to say less F on those. Does that mean we'll see aircraft with one solitary row of F?
