BA have LHR-HEL-TLL in J/Y for about £235 return, yielding 200TPs and offering the possibility of a ride on the Finnair A350 or a blue & yellow Airbus (for a €130 surcharge). See also this thread for more details and discussion of the fare.

FAQ

Where to sit on the HEL-TLL-HEL legs?
If the flight is operated by an ATR-72, then at the back because boarding and disembarking is through stairs at the back of the plane. However, for more legroom the first row (which can be row 1 or 2 depending on the ATR) is the best choice. In HEL there will be a bus transfer, in TLL the plane will pull up at the gate and stairs are used to go one level up to the departures and arrivals area (same level).
Seatmaps for Finnair planes can be found here.

Row 1 on the E90 provides the best leg room.

Please note that this flight usually takes between 15 and 22 minutes. During the flight, a crew member walks through the cabin with a basket of chocolates. No drinks are served and the fasten seat belt sign usually remains on for the duration. No chocolates on the ATR72 flights, unfortunately.

Also note that overhead bin space on the ATR-72 is limited and you might be asked to put your luggage under the seat in front of you. They do not offer gate bag check in.

How to get to town?
Information on public transportation has been provided here (courtesy of Valgamaa).

Where to stay in Tallinn?
Information have been provided here.

Where to eat/drink in Tallinn?
Here, here and here

How much time do I need at TLL to go through security?
TLL airport is very small. With fasttrack you can be at the gate within 10 minutes. Boarding for the 6.10am flight is officially 5.30 or so, but it usually starts later than that. AY's ATR usually leaves from gate 5, the E90 left from gate 9. Anyways, it doesn't really matter where it leaves, because the airport is so small.

Do I get lounge access at TLL?
Yes, show your HEL-LHR boarding pass also to get access.
For directions, please use the TLL terminal map.

Do I get lounge access at HEL?
Yes, since your outbound to LHR is in Business Class. The Schengen Lounge for HEL-TLL is located near gates 23/24 (one level up, access with status), the non Schengen lounge between gates 35 and 36. For directions, please use the HEL terminal map.
There are reports of non-status passengers being granted access to the Schengen Lounge at HEL for the TLL bound flight if shown the J boarding pass from LHR to HEL.

TP/avios earnings?
If your ticket is issued by BA, you will earn full TP and avios (+tier bonus)
If your ticket is issued by AY, you will earn full TP and base avios (no tier bonus).
LHR-HEL will earn 80TP each way, HEL-TLL 20 TP each way.
Please use the calculator on BA.com to determine the exact amount of avios earned.

Is it possible to do a back to back (B2B) at TLL?
Yes. You disembark at the same level as departures are. Simply wait in the gate area until the flight is boarding.

When and where can I check in online?
Use the AY PNR to check in online 36h before your flight in the AY App and get a mobile boarding pass.

What time should I get to TLL airport
Slightly earlier than you'd think.

Thanks BA Goldboy for the pics, so really helpful!
I've booked four of these trips for next year, yeah mileage runs to achieve BA silver.
I'm flying down from NCL-LHR the evening before staying over at the doubletree then on the 10:20 am flight to Hel operated on the A350 by AY, which I'm really looking forward to, then onto Tallin. Overnighting in Hel on my return. I paid £260 a ticket in J including my NCL-LHR connections, best bargain ive ever had!!!

Just to note at that price your domestic connections are booked in to O class and earn 5 TP per flight so giving a total of 210 for the trip. I class domestics would earn 20 TP per flight but I suspect the total cost of the booking would have been more like £360.

I hadn't thought of doing a back to back at TLL but it makes perfect sense to me. The Hilton at HEL is really good and it means that you don't have to get up quite so early for the A350 flight to LHR.

Sitting at HEL yesterday looking at the long list of flights departing I wondered if there is another TLL fare out there? I have 3-4 hours in LAX lounge on Friday so will spend some time looking for any other possibilities.

Which flights are the A350? Can only find A320/A321s here.

Been looking at a trip in January out of MAN and it seems impossible to arrive earlier than 00:20.

Now can't even get anything for TLL as "your class of travel is not available". Keeps changing "TLL, Tallin, Estonia" to "Tallin".

For LHR-HEL usually BA6032 out and BA6031 back.

When booking on BA.com the aircraft type is blank - I assume BA.com doesn't know what an A350 is since BA don't have any. However, you can double check by cross-referencing with itamatrix or the AY site.

That's because the aircraft is complimentary

A suggestion for a side-trip

If anyone needs more tier points I have a suggestion ( but it is not a genuine bargain). TLL-HEL-Malaga HEL-TLL (Y-J-J-Y) is around 700 € giving 20+140+140+20=320 TP.

Got chatting to a friendly Purser. Flights leave HEL to LHR at 09.00 and leave LHR to HEL at 10.20 (the plane then goes to HKG from HEL)

Flying out on the A350 LHR-HEL I think you can only get into TLL at 00.20 - I don't think you can catch an earlier flight from HEL-TLL

I also travelled last weekend to TLL and did the A350 on the return leg from HEL - nice plane and a nicer trip back than the outgoing leg.... would definitely recommend it and worth the early start from Tallinn on a Sunday morning.

I rather rudely listened into BAGoldBoy and IFEExpert chatting on the bus at HEL - but managed to find my manners and introduced myself to IFEExpert on the TLL flight, who then inadvertently became my travel companion on the return trip on Sunday.

We took the slightly later flight as SWMBO didn't fancy getting up at 4AM after a night out in Tallinn!

orchidrose12 next time don't be so shy. Always nice to meet another FT'er

To confirm the A350 flights are scheduled to depart HEL at 0800.

If catching the A350 on the LHR/HEL then this does depart at 1020, however there are a number of options for connecting flights on to TLL. Many of us are booked on the 1625 departure from HEL arriving into TLL at 1700. I am sure that it will be possible to catch an early morning flight from MAN or other domestic to connect to the LHR/HEL flight.

Thanks for correcting my fat-fingered typo - you are correct the HEL-LHR is 08.00

I couldn't make it work to take the A350 out from LHR and arrive in TLL before 00.20 so good to know it can happen... This trip took me exactly to 1500 TP just 3 weeks before my membership year ended... but I am tempted to make another trip soon, and would love to get the A350 both legs, especially if I can get to TLL at a reasonable time of day
