Same for me, this was my first foray into aniline mile collecting and I managed to travel to many fun places and in some very nice premium cabins that I would have never otherwise been able to afford. Got my first DC card in 2004, with a credit limit of £400. I had to spend £1 to get 20,000 miles. Cancel the card and repeat every six months... ah the good old days.

And of course just as great were the cash+points rates until 2012. A multi leg journey to North America say for 18750 points (i.e. one signup bonus) and £105.

Since I'm no longer resident in the UK (and had told MBNA this), I hope I can keep hold of either this card or a replacement they offer - and if the latter, hope it offers something half decent. :/

Nooooooooo. Just received the email. Both my and Mrs flyoffs BA PP cards awaiting Jan and March end of years before triggering to maximise 2 years.

I need to apply for more cards while sign ups are still decent. My Tesco MasterCard has sat in a draw as even with the legacy 800 Avois per £2.50 if clubcard points after the devaluation of wasn't good.

I am upset. I can see more Qatar sale fares being bought in his household.

Grrrrr

Been putting about £10k a month through the Visa card.

The BA bad news continues (although to be fair we did know this was coming)

Absolute shocker that just checked email after long day in office and saw that mail then came straight on here to mourn

Thing is it's such a good double pack - there's no replacement even near it....

Sad times. The MC delivering 2.5 miles per £ is simply irreplaceable. Still mourning some of the amazing BD Miles and Cash awards, auto-upgrades to J on Euro awards - 12 hours of J to TBS and back for beans and the GUV.

Aghhhhhh - the final nail in the BMI coffin. I'm distraught - I'll need several G&Ts this evening to get over this.

I will now have to weigh up the BA Amex or the Tesco credit card. (Earn Tesco points and and convert it at a rate of £2.50 vouchers for 600 points). Obviously no where near the 1.5 points per point we were getting.[Edit Tesco clubcard gets you the above rate - the Tesco credit card gets 1 point per £8 or 1 point per £4 in Tesco. their premier card gets you double that but with annual fee of £150)

Also looks like HSBC Premier Credit Card (MasterCard) might be worth investigating at 1 point per £2 spent but no annual fee and not Amex.

Sad day, but had to come along some time.

I'm Avios ok to around 2 million so shouldn't have a problem there for a bit.

On the 2.5 x MasterCard though I'd spend about £10k a month on payments that don't accept Amex.

Now time to look for Mastercard & Visa alternatives to be in place for end of next month?

I'm another one who got introduced to airline mile collecting through this card. And experiencing the delights of turning left as I board the plane. J class in BD's own A330 MAN to ORD. AirNZ's excellent Business Premier to LA. Sampling F class LH style, including the First Class Lounge. Although Mrs C and I both found ourselves cringing when our chauffeur driven Porsche Cayenne took us to the steps of our homeward flight to EDI. That's still a bit fancy for us!

DC was, quite simply, the best infrequent flyer programme around.
