The latest version (2010) of the First cabin (termed "Prime" internally by British Airways, or "New First") is available on all 4-class 777s and all 747s.

An newer evolution (2013) of the First seat (Prime+) is found on all A380s, and a newer version still (2015) is available on all 787-9s.

The older version of the First cabin (termed "Classic" internally by British Airways, or "Old First") has now been withdrawn.

747 information updated to 31 March 2016. Last change: withdrawal of G-BNLF, the last OF aircraft

I think when BA introduced the first First flat beds (way back in Sep95), they were advertised as demi-cabins - they were way out in front at the time - now, present day ba.com does refer to them suites - given that they don't match the size and oppulence of SQ/EK's but they are still private semi-enclosed areas that deserved the suite title at one time - do they stop being suites when SQ introduces bedrooms? No, but SQ raised the standard to a new level, one that BA won't be able to match until the first A380s arrive. BA are instead offering their own, still excellent, but in comparison smaller, suite.

...umm...so perhaps EK/SQ need to call them rooms...last i checked, suite meant sleeping in one room with a door...sitting and living room in another...but hey, what was does it matter anyway....its all just puffery....

777 lhr - sin 1st class upgrade

Hi there

I am flying LHR to SIN on BA15 on 9th sep. i just wondered if this 777 plane might have the new 1st class installed on it?

I've heard the 1st class in the 777's is quite poor, and if this is the case i might book with another airline.

can anyone advise me on this? Many thank,s james

First in the 777 is just as good as on the 747. Some find it better, since all seats are more or less the same, unlike in the 747. It is no SQ-F but it is also far less expensive.

How do the seats differ in 747 compared to 777?

Because of the shape of the 747 F cabin, some are closer to others, especially the aisle seats aft of row 2, whereas the 777 is much more uniform in this respect. The physical seats are pretty much identical.

unlikely, as is SYD. The 777s on this route are the RR powered ones with a different config.

I dont see how F on the 777s can be any more poor than the 747. From what i can see it is probably better as you dont have that annoying broken cupboard at the front squeeking open or feel like you're piggy in the middle sat in 4ef. Its probably quieter as well as I find 1ak a bit noisy on the 747.
