The latest version (2010) of the First cabin (termed "Prime" internally by British Airways, or "New First") is available on all 4-class 777s and all 747s.

An newer evolution (2013) of the First seat (Prime+) is found on all A380s, and a newer version still (2015) is available on all 787-9s.

The older version of the First cabin (termed "Classic" internally by British Airways, or "Old First") has now been withdrawn.

747 information updated to 31 March 2016. Last change: withdrawal of G-BNLF, the last OF aircraft

Has anyone got any idea why BA106 & 107 have switched from a 744 to a 772 (in some cases ZZZA/B/C ) since 20 August, reducing the chance of NF from almost 100% to less than 50% ?

Looking back I see the same thing happened for three weeks in June/July.

Hopefully the 744 will be back before 19 September...

I'm not certain, but it looks like it has changed back to a 744 today?
We are on the 107 on Wednesday so hoping it stays that way.

Good; I hope it stays that way until after the 19th! We're actually flying on to MCT the next morning and deliberately routed via DXB to avoid ZZZA/B/C so it would be somewhat ironic to get one of them anyway. We had enough of those old rust buckets while living in MCT and AUH between 1997 and 2008. (Edit: And it's nice to see MCT and AUH still get one of them more than 90% of the time...)

To try it, fair enough. But if other option is F on LH through Frankfurt I would do that all day long. Especially if its the 744 with their new first upper deck (bed and chair version). A380 is probably fantastic too in first. I know I shouldnt say that

JNB is a mixture of high-J and mid-J, so there will inevitably be a real risk of OF. If you want to be as sure as possible of NF, book a flight that's scheduled to be on a high-J aircraft, and then hope that there are no changes between now and then (but changes do happen).

If anyone in the know could indicate the chances of NF for 209 on Thursday then it may help me to manage my expectations!

Grabbed 1A & 1K at T72 and the cabin is currently showing no wardrobe, but alas no cot either

It's showing as a Mid-J so a >50% chance of Old First.

You can look here to see the historical situation for your route (this is SFO, just edit the URL with your airport code)

http://ftdashboard.net/dest/sfo.htm

Otherwise you'd have to subscribe to ExpertFlyer or $5 and look at the seat maps.

I "think" high J and mid J refers to the number of Club World seats on an aircraft. High being more than mid obviously so presumably high are used on dense business routes primarily (or at least are designed for them).
