I think I need creative start and finish cities. Any ideas?

IST = Istanbul
TLV = Tel Aviv

What is the max mileage detour?

No real chance of China - IST - TLV - Europe on one ticket.

You would probably have to split it down to China to TLV and then a separate TLV to Europe redemption.

Was looking to save some miles. I don't plan to go to IST... It just seemed like that was the only transit point this may have had a chance. It should be possible to do China - Egypt - Europe.

valid routing

Hello,
i have to use miles before they are worthless for me. Can I do HAM-FRA-SFO-LAS (destionation) Las-DEN (Stopover) DEN-IAD-FRA-HAM for 37500 (C-class) and 210 pounds plus gas money (fees)
Max connections within diamond club ?

Within USA I can use the domestic F product as long it is a 2 clas cabin or ?
Any other thinks I should be worried about ?
thanks
JR

China-Egypt-Europe is a possibility, but not via TLV because of the extra routing requirement via Europe. The lack of an Asia flight to TLV is what hurts it.

I have a similar question to above. Have flown a fair bit over the past few years, but am new to redeeming miles (but figured I should spend some before April 20th!).

I'm looking to fly ORD-MAN around 18th July (have the outbound to Ohare mostly sorted). I was wondering, is there a max number of European connections? e.g., can I do something like ORD-AMS-FRA-MAN (I'm not looking to stop over, just to get home!), or is the restriction to one European stopover?

One more thing, which I hope is not too off-topic. If I book a flight such that the TATL segment is on US, with a domestic connection on UA, does anyone know what the YQ is likely to be: zero, YQ for the TATL leg only, or YQ for the entire trip?

Thanks in advance.

following on from my post in the "availability" thread, it was pointed out that I could get back home (england) from Brazil via the USA. Thought I could stay a few days in the US and see family.

Would a route like this be doable?

outward: LHR-LIS-BSB (found availability on ANA tool)

inward: BSB-MIA (stay for a few days)
then RSW*-EWR/PHL-LHR*

(*RSW could be replaced with SRQ or FLL.... *LHR could potentially be replaced with MAN)

thanks!

That should be fine.

Is the Egypt - Tel Aviv flight even bookable with miles?

There isn't a Star Alliance option on from Egypt to TLV is there? (Having just had a look, I can't find one at least) If not, then no it can't be booked via miles. Basically if you want to go via TLV for a stopover and then on to Europe it will require 2 tickets. Unfortunately as I mentioned earlier, TLV just isn't an option to route through in the way that you would like due to the lack of Asian flights on Star Alliance.

CAI can be a stopover from China as MS operate flights from China that route through CAI to Europe, so that is a legitimate routing.

Redemption help

As I'm sure many are, I'm new to redeeming and have a route sorted out. Any help confirming/improving would be much appreciated.

BLL - NRT (via FRA) - Business Class : Z2-->Z8 18750 M&C
HND - LAX - Business - : Z3-->Z8 30000 M&C
SNA - EWR - Economy - : Z3-->Z3 zero or 15k M&c
IAD - HEL (via FRA) - First/Business : Z3-->Z2 31650+10000 M&C

All classes due to availability not necessarily choice

Is this three singles (NRT, EWR, HEL) or four and is 90000 miles right? It doesn't seem enough :)

Cheers

Planning a trip to Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil from the UK. Ideally fly into Brasilia then fly to Buenos Aires or Montevideo, then overland to Rio and then home from Rio. TAM is out as this is not until next year. I can't see any other way of getting from Brasilia to either Buenos Aires or Montevideo using either StarAlliance or OneWorld (BA) miles. Am I missing anything?

Next newbie question (sorry, I have done a search but there are so many irrelevant results....) - can I put an award flight on hold (as you can for US Airways) and if so, for how long?

You can louie. I just booked a TG/NH itin and they gave me a hold...but only for 4 hours! Other people get a number of days...it depends on the airlines involved...some have in the past mandated instant ticketing, some may still do (CA?).
