Asked for something else and could only choose from a Charger or the Malibu. Took the Charger since a) never had one before and b) classed as Premium.

Should've stuck with the Malibu.

Received: Found a battleship--I mean Grand Marquis--in my assigned stall. Went to the Preferred Desk and selected a new Nissan Altima from out of the available options.

Way. Too. Big. Had about 900 miles, but the ticket said 4000 miles so had to go inside when I returned it. Next time I get one of these, I'll go back and ask for a downgrade.

Boring, but very nice, at least compared to that Charger.

First time with Avis and but for an extraordinary fuel surcharge (later reduced) I was pleasantly surprised with the vehicle change. I think the SUV was an upgrade and the family sure liked it with all he luggage we had.

Glad you liked it. I wrote on it a while ago about how much I hated it (seats were hard and I couldn't get that 'just right' comfy spot, interior felt like cheap plastic, etc). However, maybe they have enough minor modifications for the 2009 to overcome what I despised.

Oh, and the SUV would have been a 2-3 class upgrade, I think. As a President's Club member, you're entitled to a 2-class upgrade, but I usually got ~ a 3 class upgrade with that.

Asked for and received the free upgrade. The price difference between the two vehicles at the time of booking was $400 for the 10 day period, so I booked the Full Size and crossed my fingers that there was something bigger available when I got there. I am greatful that there was and that they switched me without a question, because we were 5 guys with luggage and golf equipment driving to and from Jacksonville. Great truck with 10k miles, two tone leather, Serius radio etc...

That's a great vehicle if you get one with a few options (and don't mind 10 MPG). I've had it several times (a few by request, twice because it was one of 2 vehicles left at small locations) and really like it. My boss was with me once and hated that he'd have to pay for gas on it when we were going ~500 miles. Then it snowed and he appreciated it.

Oddly, my rental agreement showed my status as President's Club. Guess I got a UK Presidents Club upgrade.

Normally I would not want a Town Car and would ask for something else; however, I was arriving in town for my Grandmother's funeral and had many people to pick up and drive around.

another note, this is the 2nd time I've been to FLL this year and both times my name was not on the Preferred board and I had to wait in the Preferred line (about 6 people deep both times). Once I made it to the front of the line I inquired about my car and was immediately escorted to the car which was right up front, but it takes away the perk of not having to wait in line. FLL is the only station I have had this issue.
