I've been looking all over and trying lots of different codes, but was hoping maybe someone here could help me out.

We are looking to get a minivan from MLI (moline airport)..
Pick it up Wednesday 1/22/14 in the PM, and drop it back off either late Sunday (1/26) night or early Monday (1/27).

I had found some awesome discounts but then some others take away unlimited miles.
We have the AARP discount code...

We are hoping to get a minivan for under $300..
If anyone has any other codes or discounts that could help anything would be greatly appreciated

You can get a Minivan with Budget for $283.96 all-in with unlimited mileage through Travelocity. I set the pickup and return times as noon (1/22-1/27). Feel free to adjust them to suit your specific needs by clicking the 'Change your search' link at the top of the search results page. Hope this helps!

longer term rates

Anyone have a code that works predictably well for longer term rates? I've tried several rates for an upcoming trip to Florida, none really work too well AND it seems many expire out after rentals of 30 days.

In the most cases, you'll have to return to the rental office every 30-day to re-up the rental anyway, so you might just be better off booking multiple consecutive rentals. The other reason this is advisable is that rates often drop as the rental date approaches. You can periodically search for lower rates, or you can just input your future reservations into AutoSlash.com and we'll let you know if we find a better deal.

Thanks to all who have contributed great AWDs over the years.

I have been watching the rates for an upcoming trip to FL and just hit a great rate using AWD # C682300

It is an Air Canada aeroplan code that gives you 2000 AP for renting a 'larger vehicle' according to the AP promotion.

Entering the code into my reservation gave me an $85 total for a one way from FLL to RSW with unlimited mileage.

To get it to $85 I also used the $20 off coupon off the Avis website for $ day rentals.

EDIT: This was for a 'standard class' car.

Hello. Newbie here. I will now be in need of an AVIS rental every week. I need it for the day. Pick up at 8am and return at 5pm. My rates are $60 SFO, $50 SJC and $55 OAK. Does anyone have a suggestion for less? I have to pay out of pocket and once a week will add up. Appreciate it guys.

I can't tell you this for sure - but most of the "points" promotions require a coupon code. The AWD is for pricing, and the Coupons are for the points.

Now, it *could* be that this deal is different but in the last six years of weekly rentals from AVIS, I've never seen simply an AWD give you points.

You might check the fine print?

EDIT: OK, I stand corrected. I read the fine print, and dont see anything about a coupon code. Interesting.

I'm looking to rent a Camaro SS out of SEA from 2/8 - 2/15 and the cheapest I've been able to get it is $892 (including taxes & surcharges) using A177232 and pay now. That's still too much - is it possible to get it down to $600 range all inclusive or have I gone mad?

You might have a better chance booking a full-size and inquiring about an upgrade to a Camaro. That can work out even better than you were expecting.

Also, if it doesn't work, just hold on to the reservation confirming the Camaro, but chances are you upgrading to it at the counter will work out better for you.

Thank you for the suggestion. Do you know what the upgrade fee might be to go from a full size to the Camaro SS? A full size for a week is around $430 so if they charge $50/day to upgrade that would add on another $350 plus increased taxes/surcharges which would bring it up over $800. That's much better than $900+.

I tried many codes but nothing work!!!!

Is there a discount code that works in Switzerland? I tried a few and the rate doesn't change. Oddly, the car is a couple dollars cheaper on carrentals.com than Avis's own website. Thanks.

Thank you for the code. Saved me $50 off lowest Avis I could otherwise find (through Autoslash.com-$245) and $120 off lowest Hertz ($305). ^^^

Buster Jan 28, 2014 12:20 pm

Just booked a rental in France using the Air France Flying Blue Code (F982700). Worked out to be much cheaper than any other code I had found, including the European "deals" AWD on the Avis website. It's a public code, so should be pretty safe for use.

xero9 Jan 29, 2014 7:19 pm

I've been using the Deloitte AWD multiple times at both my local Avis location as well as at BOS. Each time I feel like they're going to crack down on me. Last time I called to reserve a car for the same day (web site was telling me no vehicle available) I gave her the AWD and she goes "who is this for?". I think I pronounced Deloitte wrong because she asked twice.

I have an upcoming EWR rental with National, but debating booking with Avis as well and if they give me a hard time about the AWD I'd just leave and get the National car.

Coupon for one-way rental?

Doing a last-minute one-way trip between Mount Laurel/Cherry Hill NJ and ORF. Leaving 1/30 at noon and dropping off 1/31 at noon.

Using an AWD code getting $79 ($91.03 with taxes) for unlimited miles (subcompact - full size). Was wondering if there were any coupon codes I could use on top of this for $$$ off or upgrades? Would consider cheaper alternatives as well.

Lockheed Corporate Discount

Does anyone know if they verify ID for this AWD? I see that you must use a Lockheed e-mail to get Avis preferred service.

Like every corporate ID, there is always a chance they will verify you work for the company/organization whose discount code you are using. If you can't provide proof, you can end up paying the walk-up rate which is far higher than what you can book on-line even with a crappy discount code.

plannerboy Jan 31, 2014 7:07 am

I used the Lockheed AWD just last week in Tampa, with Preferred Service. No questions asked.

I've never been asked for ID for a corporate AWD, but recently a counter agent said "Oh, you work for [name of company]? I did once. What do you do?" I was able to answer, but wondered later whether this was just casual conversation, or the beginning of a test - if I had fumbled, would he have asked for ID? Didn't matter, since I was legit on that one.

Same here, but there are multiple offices for Lockheed in my city so it was pretty easy to just think of a job.

Is there any good AWD for Australia? I must have tried a hundred different AWDs and they all give about the same discount, +/- $10. Thanks.

Thanks for posting about your experience. I think E153702 should not be used in Oceania, with problems now reported in SYD and AKL!

You can never tell. I used it without any problems in Sydney in 2013. I've also used it in Santiago (Chile) and Zurich, among other places over the years. This code seems to have had a checkered history. I signed up for it through a newspaper ad in Spain in the 80's. It may have become an employee code some time later. At any rate, I do agree that it might be best to avoid it.

Looking to rent a car for the weekend in the Toronto area, don't want to use personal vehicle insurance. Any codes to waive/lower the cost of LDW? Hoping to rent at an off airport Avis in Toronto but willing to travel to airport.

Thanks in advance.

Who/what company is this associated with?

In my experience, posts that just have "hey, use this AWD" without any association listed are typically personal codes. Folks want you to use it to earn free days for them, while getting the renter NO benefits.

X474200 was published on Travelocity.com for discounts for their customers and MUWZ023 is a standard $25 off weekly coupon.

UPS. I have a friend who used to work for Avis and setup one of my reservations a while back and used that code. And I've been using it since then.

I'm assuming you have to work for UPS to use this code??

Yes, that is the idea. Generally enforcement is lax around these sorts of things in the industry, but that doesn't mean it's non-existent. If you are challenged and can't prove you are authorized to use a particular code, you can end up paying the 'walk up' rate which can be a shockingly high number.

KarenN Feb 13, 2014 7:27 pm

I can get a great rate with the Citigroup Leisure Rate. Is this just a code for their credit card users?

This is for Citigroup employees traveling on leisure (i.e. not bank business).
