I am brand new and used the code for the discount through Avis A442100 and received a wonderful deal. Who does the code belong to? Will they ask me for ID upon pick up at Sarasota International Airport. Thank you all for taking the time to help us save money.

Filthy Monkey Aug 26, 2013 1:44 pm

Hi lilmaggie, welcome to Flyertalk and to the Avis forum :)
This code is a corporate rate for employees of Deloitte. I use this rate to rent cars on a regular basis and have never been asked for any kind of ID. However, I guess there is always a chance that you could be asked some potentially awkward questions, so be prepared...

Greetings! I have a reservation for early October which I booked with a USAA code I found a few pages back. It gave me an incredible rate. The code is A177204. I tried to use the link to determine for sure if this was a USAA code. The link gave me an error for that code. I have since joined USAA (parent is former military). They give the code A177232 to all members to use. When using the USAA supplied code it says "welcome USAA member" then goes on to give all the benefits Avis gives USAA members. I'm contemplating rebooking using the general code to guarantee the benefits (free additional driver, insurance etc). The booking would be a little more expensive. I'm guessing since I don't see the benefit info using the code I found in this forum on page 196. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hello.
I want to go to Australia in 2014.
Has anyone used E153702 here?
It gives me a special rate without OW Fare and unlimitted milage on a 4WD for Perth-Broome, used on the german avis site.
Does anyone know if there are any ristrictions on this code?
Thanks a lot.

AWD E153702 gives a very big discount outside of USA. I used it successfully in SCL in 2012, SYD & ZRH in 2013. No id requested. It was advertised in ABC Madrid in 1986 for the general public. It may now be an Avis employee discount code. ID once asked for from an FT poster at LHR.

Here is the ad from ABC:
What's the best one way rental discount code these days? Let me know what affiliation is attached to it too. I'm looking for a great one-way code with unlimited miles, going from GFK to MSP if that helps.

In case people were wondering the code B868700 belongs to First USA Bank. I have seen this code for a long time in this thread but no one could say who it belonged to (even if you tried to look it up on that Avis site it wouldn't come up). If you use a code, on your receipt print out it will say the name of the company that it is associated with which is how I confirmed this code (for example, I've used the Citigroup Leisure Travel A074800 code before and that's exactly what it says on the receipt). I haven't had any trouble using either but the B868700 code isn't always the best consistently depending on where you are picking up or dropping off from what I can tell (though at times it does seriously beat the Citigroup code, which on the other hand is consistently a fairly decent rate regardless).

Looking for a code to use in Phoenix Arizona for March 12-22nd 2014...any suggestions? Would be flying into Sky Harbor...thanks!

Seeking discount for December in Spain. One way from Madrid to Seville.

Any Europe or Spain ideas? Should I rent at the airports or in town? Picking up the car in downtown Madrid would actually be more convenient and let me avoid parking costs in Madrid. Return ideally at Seville airport.

Found $137 for six days picking up at airport (then come the taxes and one-way fees, getting it to $279 for a compact). Same price for four days picking up downtown Madrid.

Advice? Codes that have worked recently? Thanks.

I thought I would share my experience, perhaps it will help someone.
Booked a Full size rental from noon friday to noon monday (3 days) at ATL
shopped a bunch of diff codes and ended with this
AWD: K563500 (upromise) + coupon TUEA005 (visa cardholder 3rd day free weekend)
priced out total at 82.03 incl tax etc.... + I will get 5% upromise cb.

A177232 (USAA) + TUEA005 = 86.00 and includes all the bennys including LDW.

I tried all the other usual suspects mentioned and couldn't get it lower - perhaps if I hammered away harder at it....

these are all public codes and stated plainly on the associated websites for those wary to use codes that they feel are in the grey market :-)

everyone here is fabulous! I love the info.

Thanks, I just re-booked an upcoming LAX reservation with this coupon, it saves me $8! I had a coupon that was giving $30 off, but this one gives $36.50 off, and the rest is lower taxes/fees.

Were you required to use a VISA card to pay for the reservation?

NCLSEA123 Oct 5, 2013 7:07 pm

AMEX 5% prepaid rates

While most decent AWDs will make come back with a better non prepaid rate for full size or below, just thought I'd post this for everything else. Usually the prepaid rates aren't discounted any further.

Must use an AMEX card to pay, and you will receive 5% off the lowest prepaid rate. Couple this with the MUWA028 $35 off a week coupon and in many cases, you've got a good deal. (especially for vehicles not typically discounted much in most AWD rates)

https://www.avis.com/car-rental/profile/go.ac?S692200

Valid for rentals picked up between 10/23/2013 - 12/31/2013.

$25 cancellation fee and $100 no-show fee. If your flight gets delayed or cancelled, call reservations and they will waive the fees.

Interesting--I just tried using this rate code as well for one way from DFW -> MSY 11/27-12/1, and while it gave me an awesome rate ($204 including taxes and fees), it's still charging $0.26/mile.

Does this vary from airport to airport?

Tried to use this code in SYD today and was refused, as they asked for ID, so they may be tightening up, however I was served by the manager, so this may also have something to do with it.

I FOUND THIS AVIS DISCOUNT CODE to be the best
AWD Number:Y346538
Please use it along with CouponCode: MUGA009
to get 40$ of you're next weekly rental.

I used this the other day, worked great!

seajay999 Oct 17, 2013 1:59 pm

Avis' website is now requiring a Last Name as well as AWD#. I've tried a few codes, but the last name requirement is making it impossible to go further (comes back with a message saying the combo is invalid). How are you all getting past that requirement?

seajay999 Oct 17, 2013 8:38 pm

Whoops.... nm... I was confused by the box for the Wizard entry. When I enter the code in the discount code box, all is well and there is no name requested. Meh... blame my embarrassing lapse on price comparison fatigue. ;)

Last year when I tried using my old reliable AWD code that I'd been using for years for my annual one-way car rental, I was challenged for the first time at my neighborhood Avis. Luckily I somehow managed to remember the name of the company it belongs to and said that since I was on a personal trip I had no business cards with me, and they let it go.

This year I'm a little nervous. This year that code is reducing the rate from an insane $200+ per day rate down to a much better $40-ish/day rate. The price difference has never been that huge before. I really don't want to get stuck paying $200+. Are they now challenging people more for the codes? Or was I just unlucky enough last year to get stuck with the one agent in the system who bothered to ask? That rate is the only semi-sane rate I found that was offered by ANY of the car rental companies, unfortunately.

Got this error.

This coupon can only be used with a specific AWD number. Please select from the dropdown below and enter the AWD Number, or proceed with your reservation (coupon will be removed).

I guess you could say that it looks risky. At least two people report trouble (posts #1547, #2228), but others say they had no trouble. You should search for the code both in this thread and in Google to see what you think of other people's reports. If you do decide to try it, you should have a backup reservation with a different rental company just in case.

AA and Priceline combined = 1500 for 3 day for cheap

So I gave Priceline a try and I was able to shave off almost 50% !!! :D

Yeah this quote is from 6yrs ago, but it is true. You find out what the priceline AWD is A686200 and then use it for via the AVIS site and you will get a good rate. Then combine it with the AA 1,500 mile MUAA070 coupon code, and voila great deal with bonus miles

It appears that booking through Costo Travel is better than booking directly at Avis' own website, using the same Costco AWD# (A108396) and the same coupon code. For a weekly rental at LAX, the rate quoted by Costco Travel is roughly $10 cheaper than Avis. I wonder why.

Thanks! This one saved me over $100 for a 10-day booking in Vancouver. Rented for March 2014, so maybe the booking just has to be made this year.
