What exactly is "misleading" here? his rates are probably based on his experience, if you don't agree with one of the ratings, point them out and explain why! Dont post blanket statements without any basis.
And more: what in the world is "useless" here? I just saved money on a rental after trying a few AWDs and coupons. that's "useless" in your eyes??

As I am sure Bob1008 will agree, just blindly trying AWD numbers and coupon codes, a person is inviting problems. Without knowing which companies or associations are linked to what AWD numbers, a person has no way of knowing which numbers might be heavily restricted, or which numbers might require ID as part of the rate requirements. Just because a person gets away with using an AWD, because an Avis employee does not do their job properly, does not mean that same person will not get caught the next time. Any Avis employee at any time can ask a simple question which will invalidate the rental, such as, do you have your business card or company ID? Do you have your Costco membership card?

Of course, this will happen at the worst time, such as family vacation, with the kids cranky and needing to go to bed, and there you are, having your $238 weekly rental invalidated, and all of a sudden, the best available is $716 for the same week, and then, when you accept, the authorization (for triple the rental amount) will be put on your card, and then when you get to the hotel, there will not be enough room on your card for the hotel authorization, and pretty soon, you will be getting a divorce. Think this is crazy? Believe me, it is not, I have seen (all except the divorce part) it happen.

So, yes, Bob1008 is correct, that long list of AWD numbers (without the accompanying company or association info) and coupon codes (without full date and term information) is a very misleading and useless list.

Oh, if that's something that might result in divorce, you have other problems to deal with...

On a serious note, he could just (as you did) post a warning what might happen in some rare instances if you don't know the corp name. It doesn't make it "useless" or "misleading".
Mr. Sam probably worked hard to consolidate all codes here, and he did a wonderful job.
Totally unacceptable to bash someone like this.

Wow, amazing how some people on here are just so unthankful and so impolite :(

Thank you Sam for compiling the list, and for posting it here.

Bit of a long shot, but does anyone know of any codes that are good for DME airport in Moscow? Cheapest I can find for even a small car is £129, around $200 for 3 days. I've tried various codes, but no luck so far.

Hello all!
First time poster in this forum - thanks to you all for the very helpful information thus far.
I've been trying to find a deal for an upcoming rental with Avis, and came across this code: X018184
Could anyone clarify if they know if this is a coupon code available for everyone's use or if it's a corporate code?

Cheers!

Almost all AWD numbers (begin with ONE LETTER, are NOT coupon codes) are either corporate or association numbers. A relative few are for the general public. Some AWD, which stands for Avis Worldwide Discount, are usable for the public, such as hotel loyalty program AWDs, airline frequent flyer AWDs, public association AWDs (such as AAA), or buyer program AWDs (such as Costco or BJ's Wholesale), trade association AWDs (such as the American Bar Association or National Association of REALTORS), or some other RELATIVELY public company/association/group, etc. Other AWDs are much more restrictive, and just about every AWD is subject to ID, upon request by an Avis team member, but the risk of ID request is fairly low to almost non-existent.

There are a few AWD numbers which are very risky to use without proper ID, because of the high discount afforded by that AWD number, and the high abuse, such as state and federal employee AWDs, and expensive membership programs, such as NetJets/Marquis Jets. The easiest AWDs to FAIL on are credit card associated AWD numbers, which give a good discount at time of reserving online, but then do not work at time of rental, because the attempted user does not have the credit card associated with that AWD, and in order to use that AWD, the subject credit card must also be used too.

In general, most reasonable people would consider any AWD which is unknown (meaning not knowing what company/association/group/credit card it is tied to) to be fairly to very risky, even though the actual chance of getting caught using a VERBOTEN AWD to be fairly small.

I hope that helps you, and others. If I have left anything out, I welcome comments and additions from others.

Fatwallet has a recent thread with TUEA002 free 2 weekend days code.
It is legit or simply reward redemption that would require a cert of some sort? It did allow me to book without avis account.

Hope you have a reward certificate to present.

Got $2 rental. Doesn't look like a redemption (as I'm logged in) but is the elite benefit.
Also, since it uses the coupon code, who should i try to earn points with?
can i not get the club carlson bonus?

Now there's an example of someone who truly does want something for nothing, actually something for less than nothing! Geez!

Avis Corporate Code

Not sure I'm in the right place, but I'm sharing our corporate code for Avis if anyone can use it. It's Q3197067, and it's for 30% off the lowest fare. It works up to a full size car. My husband travels for work, and he and other employees have used this all over the country. Occasionally it doesn't work someplace, though. I know it works really well in Oakland and Salt Lake City. :)

btw, I noticed a lot of people asking if you needed a printout (no) or company ID. None of us have ever been asked for ID. It's a pretty small company.

Lol at all the greedy, uninformed folks on fatwallet/slickdeals who used the coupon thinking they could get free, pre-paid reservations.

They'll either get charged a cancellation fee or the full price for being unable to produce a physical rewards certificate. Maybe it was all a clever strategy by Avis to make some more money!

newfbc Mar 27, 2013 10:33 am

Update from 'other' boards.. when you try to use this coupon now:
"This coupon can not be applied to online reservations. Please present this coupon at the counter."

Ron.

Or, there are two other possibilities, their reservation will be cancelled due to being invalid, or the rate agent will agree to still rent them a car, but only at the undiscounted full rate available at that moment for last minute/walk-in customers.

LOL Or just use an existing free weekend award they may already have...

I pick up tomorrow. We'll see if this coupon sticks

Just got my cancellation e-mail. Wheeeee...

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Taxis await for me in Vegas.

People who thought they were being sneaky by pre-paying also got stuck with a $25 cancellation fee. :D (It will be refunded in 3-5 business days.)

What is an available (and possibly the best you are aware of) coupon code and AWD to rent one way? (with unlimited mileage)
Please send me a message if you believe that's the way it should work.

The Lockheed Martin AWD comes through again. I have a rez at HNL, and the rate was over $308 all in for just five days. None of the coupons would be accepted for Hawaii. The Lockheed Martin AWD brought it down to $203 ai.

I'm an AVIS preferred member. When do they ask for ID when you basically walk to the car and avoid the check in line?

When you get to the gate at the lot.

When you get to the security gate in the car, you give your driver's license and the rental agreement (which should already be in the car) to the person in the booth.

Will the person in the booth ask for ID to verify the AWD code? That was really the ID I was referring to. I guess I didn't really make that clear. Basically, if you aren't dealing with the counter, at what point will one be asked to verify he or she is entitled to use the code?

40+ Avis rentals a year and I've never, ever been asked for ID other than my DL, at the booth or counter... and I've used all the main AWD suspects.

Thanks, I realize the prospect of being asked are low. I just wondered at what point one is 'in the clear'. If it's a preferred rental, would it be at the rental return one might be asked or the booth on exit?

The exit guy only cares that you have the right car and your DL matches.
Relax and don't sweat it.

If Avis Montreal or Avis Florence doesn't question someone with a CO or CA DL using a Florida State employee AWD, no one will. :D

The person in the booth can barely remember to ask for your driver's license. If there is a problem, instead of being dropped at the car by the bus driver, the bus driver will tell you that a visit to the counter will be necessary. If no one asks you to visit the counter, then you should not worry about the AWD you have used.

One Way Free Weekend Day Coupon?

Trying to do a three day weekend one-way SAN-LAX rental and found a coupon that will work for $15 off, but when I try to enter coupons for one free weekend day (3+ days) it says "not valid for one way rentals". Anyone know of any free weekend day coupons (or bonus airline mile offers that are worth more than $15) that are valid with one-way rentals or is the $15 off one the best I could hope for?

Members.

I am planning a Trip to Seoul Korea in May for 17 days.

I believe AVIS is the only rental car company in Incheon Airport.

Could anyone help me find best discounted AWD or coupon code?

There is a promotion on AVIS.com but only discounts $40-$50...

Anyone recommend better discount code?

Thank you in advance.

Please pm me if possible...

I've never rented in Asia, and that is a different company if I am not mistaken, an independent company which has rights to the Avis name for Asia. AvisBudget Group bought Europe, Africa two years ago, but I do not think AvisBudget Group bought Asia as a part of that deal. So, I have no idea what coupons or AWD codes would be best for Asia. I am not positive about the situation in Asia, so if what I said was incorrect about AB Group not buying Asia, please correct me.

david7979 Apr 2, 2013 11:19 am

I checked out the airport website and there is a picture of the rental car stand. and it has AVIS sign. it doesnt look like independent company with AVIS name..

but this doesnt mean it wasnt bought out.. I have no idea either..

anyone have any expeerience around this? what is the best way to book rental car in Korea?
