it's giving only 10% discount on the rack one.

Does anyone have another code with more aggressive discount? Switzerland has one of the highest car rental rates in the world.

Avis Discount Codes

Got burned today for the first time using a code. They agent asked who I worked for and when it wasn't the right answer he removed code. Rate went up :( I'll post the code later as I don't have it with me. He said it was some insurance company but his accent made it impossible for me to understand what he said.

Decent Rate

Try X846850 - seemed to give me a great rate compared to others.

What is this rate for? Is it your corporate/reward code? You've had the similar post 5x in 5.5 years, but I can't seem to get it to give a better rate than many other publicly posted/noted AWDs. Even in the locations you suggest (ORD/DCA/DFW).

This is a very unusual, though entirely plausible situation. The vast majority of agents either never ask, or do not have the face time with you (because your contract is already in a waiting car) in order to ask what the code is for or where you work. Knowing the name of the affiliated company is always the best preparation. If you do not work for that company, just say you have a consulting contract with them, or something similar. Also, if you can make a mental note (or save the information in your smart phone, as I do) where you have seen or experienced such a thing is always helpful. Also, your status with Avis will have a lot to do with both the likelihood of an agent asking you, and also the opportunity that any agent will have to ask you (in other words, if the contract is already in a waiting car, then an agent will likely never have the chance to ask), but if you have a lower status which requires you to go to the counter before check out, then you would be much more "exposed."

Yes, I agree with IAH, some obscure AWD, without the associated information for it makes that AWD all but unusable for the rest of us, and repetitive reposting of the AWD, without the supporting information, does not make it any better than the last time you posted it. Considering the above posting from epost77, it also makes using such a code quite risky, which regular renters, such as IAHtraveler and myself, would avoid like the plague!

And he's only posted 5 times ever on FT.

Sounds like an affinity code that he gets credit for when you use it.

You mean that it is possible to ask Avis to generate a special AWD number for someone, which gets a nominal discount, but also pays the person who had Avis issue the AWD to them?

Exactly. If we can't get proof otherwise, it's most likely just a code (s)he gets credit for every use on

As I recently found out (after searching about another post), one can get their own AWD for "their" company and get a free rental day coupon with every 15 rentals. Not great, but better than nothing! The rates don't seem to be at a discount but it's something I'll take! Avis corporate rewards website

The code I used was A972200. It was in Toronto at the Dundas Street W location near Runnymede.

The code maybe be for Zurich Insurance. I believe that is what the agent said but had difficulty understanding him.

A972200 is Deloitte, I believe.

He definitely said ..... insurance. Not Deloitte however he could have been just saying whatever came to his mind. Google said it is Farmers Insurance. Can't be that because that is what I said and he said no not correct.

Looking for a month-long rental one way from SFO-LAX in July-August. The much beloved HP rate seems to have begun charging a per-mile rate which makes this no longer economical. Any suggestions from the group?

A972200 is for Farmer's/Zurich Insurance, and it is hard to get stung by that one, since it is for policy holders!

Yes, don't do it, it is not intelligent to do a month long one way rental, since one way charges are DAILY! Get a car for a day or two one way, if possible, then return it when you get where you are going to, again, if possible, so as to stop the one way charges, and get a local rental to drive around for the rest of the month, which you will return to the same location, so as not to incur the punitive one way charges. Understand or do you have questions?

Try code X400270. I am on the executive board for this company and looked up July 1 to August 1. There seems to be no one way charge and our rate doesn't charge per mile. There is also no young driver fee if that matters at all. Anyone in this group is free to use the code as much as they would like.

Actually, I put in the same dates from SFO returning SFO and got the same rate as SFO-LAX.

Same as I had before. Thanks for trying.

The best luck I've had with One Ways is A442100. Unlimited mileage. Best prices.

What company is that for, in case we are ever asked?

That seems to be the winner so far but it only takes it down from $719 to 690. What company is this?

Wait, you are complaining about a one month, one way rental in California for approx. $700? Do you realize what you have there?

With taxes/fees etc. it's more like $950 which is no different than the rate that I can get on Kayak or Orbitz. What's the point of a discount code if it doesn't get you a discount?

Did more or less the same last year for a lot less on the HP rate before they changed it to charge for mileage.

I tried many codes but nothing work!!!!

I used M&M AWD a few months ago for summer rental.

Interestingly back i booked one week for appr $300 and tax/fees were only $60.
Today a similar reservation is about $330 but taxes/fees are up to $140! Crazy!

Do not try this code. It gives a rate double the lowest available rate with no discount code. Not sure what kind of game this poster is playing.

It seems to be a "private label" type of AWD, and probably gives a commission or referral fee to the person or company it was issued to by Avis.

(I am calling it private label because it is the most descriptive name I could think of, and that particular AWD seems to have been created for the person or company who has been flogging it on FT for the last few years, only 5 posts, all promoting that particular AWD number, and all in the Avis Discount Codes thread.)

No one is going to do you any favors if you cant possibly use the search box.

Thanks for your such a nice comment. I looked around and tried so many codes but most of them didn't give me good rate so I thought to ask you guys.
