Never an id rquired for G417900. In my humble opinion, it has been the most reliable code on this site for quite some time. I have never seen a single post about an issue with this code.

Looking into making a car rental with Avis in FL in a month. Plugged in many discount codes from the big list on FT (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/avis/...rix-fixed.html) and for my particular reservation, the cheapest was (not counting A113400 which I won't use):
B270898 But I couldn't find any information on it. Does anyone know how I can find where this code came from? Thanks, |
Two codes that give better prices than the Kellwood code:
Costco.ca: (Both give same discounts - I don't know if you have to show your membership card) Regular member: AWD #:C857501 Executive member: AWD #:C857500 Aeroplan: C682300 (also gives you extra Aeroplan points) Example: Avis Las Vegas Airport, Intermediate car, 5-day rental: Costco.ca: $141.63 Aeroplan: $145.64 (extra Aeroplan points worth about $4) Kellwood (G417900): $184.49 Granted this is a very specific example related to my current search, but they worked for me. |
How to avoid airport taxes and concession fees at LAX - instead of inputing LAX as your rental location, use Manchester CA (QB9) on Arbor Vitae Rd - this is the same physical location as LAX, but for some reason Avis has a local location here which avoids the airport fees.

I don't understand the reference to Manchester - as that sends me off to locations in/around Santa Rose, and the QB9 seems to be wrong. [ah, when you start by asking for Q9L it comes up with "Manchester-Q9L" although the initial dropdown has Los Angeles.] When I start with "Los Angeles" what I'm seeing on my dropdown is "5740 Arbor Vitae Street, Los Angeles, CA - (Q9L). But - here's the kicker - my pickup for LAX on 12/25 went through fine, but when I select Q9L I'm told the location is closed due to the holiday!! I also note that the official address for LAX is 9217 Airport Blvd, which is a block or so west of 5740 Arbor Vitae St. Both show up as "Avis" on Google maps. Are these actually physically the same location?? From my experience the shuttle buses drop you at 9217 Airport Blvd., which puts you not where you'd need to be for the Arbor Vitae location. |

Are these actually physically the same location> When I originally checked on Google Maps, they appeared to be the same spot, but now I see they are 1 block apart (barely 1/4 mile). It looks like the easiest way to get there is take the Avis shuttle and walk about 5 minutes over, or take the Dollar shuttle which will drop almost next door. The location has different hours than LAX, so it really is a different physical location - but it should work for most folks, especially if you can do a 1-way from QB9 to LAX to drop at the shuttle stop and ride back to the terminal. The only question is the cars - if you're a preferred or presidents member, what cars will they have on hand for you...but given the usually terrible upgrade process and attitude at the LAX location and that silly Select-and-Go system, you might find equivalent cars at QB9, especially if you call first and develop any rapport with the agent. On a longer rental of a week or more, the savings could be significant - I guess you could pick up a not-so-nice car at QB9, then drive over to LAX to do an exchange and find something better. |

The Arbor Vitae location is the Manchester/QB9 location - not sure why it's not showing correctly on your drop-down list, but this is the location that should "waive" the airport-specific taxes/fees.

Have you done this yet? I tried this at ILM/Wilmington, NC, as their staging location is a mile from the airport. Since I live locally, picking my car up there wasn't going to be a problem. I got there & they told me that they don't rent cars there, no matter what my booking/the internet states. They directed me to the airport where I was charged all the usual fees. After bickering with Avis Customer Service a few times after the rental (they are a franchise, so they kind of do what they want), I just went to my credit card and had it fixed.
Edited....they close Saturday at 4pm...I'll try again tomorrow. |

it is P271899 |
If you search the thread for P271899, you will see several posts that state it is an Avis corporate code. Hope that helps.

Putting the Manchester/LA thing to rest - I spoke with the location and they confirmed they are a local Avis shop and do rent cars separate from the LAX location down the street. They have no airport shuttle (or pickup/dropoff) and limited weekend hours, but other than that, they are a legitimate location for those with longer rentals who want to dump the airport fees/taxes.

using P271899
Hi,
I would like to use the above code and worrying if AVIS will give a hard time. Do they request some form of an ID to confirm this? or do I need not to worry? I am renting from LAX. Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. |
Looking for weekly rental in NYC 12/22 to 12/29. The rate is $385 using the Deloitte code (A442100) and about $20 less using HP code (A515100). Is one of these (HP vs. Deloitte) generally considered safer and more/less likely to get asked for ID? Or should I be fine with either? NYC Avis locations have cracked down on the FL code, but I'm not sure it's the case with other codes.

Code for One way Munich to Zurich?
Anyone have something that might help? Rates are astronomical!

They are usually very much interested to have somebody returning the car for them, therefore they may not ask you to pay the one way fee (which I guess is 200 EUR). Anyhow, you need to be lucky, but it is worth to try. Otherwise, I do not see a chance to avoid the one way fee. (except of returning the car in Konstanz and take a train from there to Zurich) Be careful: sometime they give you a Swiss car AND charge the one way fee, which I would not accept at all. |
Anyone know a code for Cozumel in March? Rates are much higher than last time we went.

B270898
Booked an excellent weekday rate with AWD B270898. I searched the internet and couldn't find any further information on this number. The rate code is "TJ". Does anyone know more about this AWD, this rate code, or if the "B" before the AWD number signifies anything?
Thanks for any info! |

LAX Alternate Rental Location

I entered the return location as LAX and there were no added Airport Fees. Savings of $100 over 2 week rental. I'll be there soon and report back if I had any issues and how I get to Q9L. Although, with the $100 savings, I wouldn't object to a cab :)
If you are in a hurry or expect red carpet service, use the LAX location. They did not have a vehicle ready for pickup and they did not have the correct class of vehicle in stock. About half an hour later and a vehicle exchange with the LAX location for the vehicle we requested (an american made vehicle), we were on our way at the original rate less Airport tax/fees. Lessons Learned: Call ahead to confirm the reservation. They may have prepped one for us. This is primarily a truck rental location. |
Hi, I want to rent a car in Miami on 31 March and for 1 week. Just something simple. Does anyone have a good code to use to add a driver?

I wouldnt think using either would be an issue. If anyone asks you anything, just tell them HP is your client and they gave you the code. Unlikely a desk agent is going to care.

Has anyone used B999000 recently? It's giving me the best possible rate. I did read about that code giving trouble to lot of people about 5-6 years back, but I didn't read about any recent experiences.

Do you happen to know what B999000 is tied to? By tied, I mean what company or association or special entitlement it is attached to. Examples, such as is it an AAA rate, or an IBM employee rate, or a National Trial Lawyers Association rate, etc?

What I have learnt by reading other threads about the code is that it is for the 'Chairman's Club' members
B999000 seems to be an AWD for Avis senior employees or executives. Take a look at this post. And this post. And this post. And posts 739-741 here. |
