As of 2/12/14: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this AWD. It's great" type of posts. When the AWD doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the AWD of someone so the poster can earn free days from their Avis Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the AWD or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here.

I experienced the following:
When I booked the car I got a AWD warning, but I followed through. When I went to the Preferred booth at BRU the rental was "counter" and did not have my wizard number. When the agent entered my wizard number it applied my default AWD. So, you now have to change your AWD in the profile to not have complications.

O387100 (10% worldwide through avis.co.uk)
O387100 is the only code that works for my upcoming UK trip (10%). Better than nothing.
Good codes appear to be few & far between at the moment. Gone are the heady days of D005591 40% goodness

Will it be troubles?
Suppose I use AWD K444404 and get best price on rent, ID is not checked. So I drive a car and get into an car accident. AVIS checks the agreement, asks for ID for the code and Collision Damage Waiver won't work. Can it be or not?

These codes can provide steep discounts, but are not without risk - just be aware of this before using them.

Has anyone used this code (K444404) successfully without being asked for an ID? I am planning a trip to Costa Rica and this code give unlimited mileage with a rate that is 50% cheaper than the regular rate. I want to use it, but I don't want to wind up getting shot down at the counter.
Any help/advice is much appreciated.

Contract with AVIS not valid?
You will be held fully responsible and liable for any and all damage done to the rental car as well as other property you damage. If the owner of that AWD is sued or otherwise impacted by the accident, they will have recourse to recover any damages and costs from you.
These codes can provide steep discounts, but are not without risk - just be aware of this before using them.

Are you saying that if you use a code which you are not entitled to use the contract with AVIS is not valid and the collision damage waiver does not apply in the event of damage or an accident?
Interested to know as have been using codes with no problem but am worried now!
