Apparently gets you the following discounts:

Europe 10% off Avis SuperValue rentals

I have a backup 'no card' booking with Alamo just in case!!

This code gets me the 2nd best rate I could find for a 3 day midweek rental in Italy - picking up in Florence, returning in Rome (FCO). The only better rate I found is N711304 which is a "contract rate" (but doesn't tell me whose contract) that's quite a bit cheaper - but since no one on this board seems to know anything about the N711304 rate, I'm not willing to take the risk blind.

Just want to report back that I used A97220 at SFO last week with no issue. No questions asked. Nothing to show. The agent pulled up the rez and printed the contract.

PS: I know it's not related to the code, but watch out for those pesky automatic fuel surcharges for driving <75 miles even though I declined all of their fuel options. I got dinged ever so discreetly (had to look at the receipt upon return to find out) and had to go to the counter to get it removed (after showing a gas receipt, though)!

N711304 rate

Has anyone had any luck with this "contract" rate code? I used it to make a reservation to pick up a car in Venice in July. Discount is significant! Just hoping that they don't ask for an i.d., etc. Doesn't specify what type of contract. Any help is appreciated. thx

todd-r May 8, 2009 12:32 pm

I just used A972200 in Hawaii last week for signifigant savings. As a preferred member, the paperwork was done in advance and my contract was waiting on the board. And as a President's Club member, I was upgraded from a compact to an intermediate SUV (Ford Escape) which made driving around the big island very comfortable!

I have a back-up reservation, but again, much more expensive and not the model I requested.

Whose code is K444404? It gives great rates in Europe. The previous code I got the best quote was with K817100 (American Airlines AAdvantage).

Seattle to Vancouver One-Way - Help!

Does anyone know of a good one-way rate from Seattle to Vancouver? Dates are July 3-11, but I can pick up a couple of days later and drop off a couple of days earlier (ex: July 5 - 9). I'll pick up pretty much anywhere in Seattle (SEA, or other downtown locations), but for Vancouver I need it to be next to the Pier (which I think is the Hornby location).

Best I've been able to find is around $230 BUT it's $0.25 per mile! Looking for a good unlimited miles offer.

Try P400000. I used it in April/08, without any difficulties. The rate was CAD 95.99, total CAD 111,26, one way from R1R to SE2, unlimited kms., on a Sunday for an SUV. I found it far cheaper to rent segments separately: one rental for use in BC, another one-day rental for trans-border, and a third for use in WA (each with its own AWD).

Farmers code = no FF credit

I found a code on this thread for Farmers Insurance (A972200) and used it once about a month ago in DEN. I usually use the Amateur Sports Assistance code (D005297). This time the Farmers code actually beat the ASA code by a few bucks. I also used the MUAA133 coupon code for 5K bonus DL SkyMiles.

I did not get the miles for the Farmers code and here was the reply from Avis when I inquired:
Dear Evan!,

Thank you for contacting us through the Avis Website. Please accept my
sincere apology for the delay in responding to your inquiry.

Our records indicated that your rentals were billed under the Zurich
Insurance corporate rate. Their contractual agreement details that when
this rate is applied, their employees are not eligible to receive
frequent traveler points.

ID required? Amateur Sports Assistance code (D005297)

Hi, I also just got a great rate (half the weekly rate as quoted under my standard corporate AWD) for a weekly rental at LAX on May 20 using this code.

Same question as the previous poster, is an ID required?

I also have Avis Preferred so I usually have minimal paperwork, but I've never rented a car at LAX before.

I also used the MUAA133 coupon code for 5K bonus DL SkyMiles mentioned earlier.

Thank you, thank you for posting this info on here! This rental is for personal use, and I was seeing at least double the prices even at the cheaper rental companies.

After about a week of unsuccessful searches for one-way SF Bay Area to Long Beach rentals without a drop fee, I found success using A972200. No drop fee whatsoever using this code. YMMV.

Anyone use A113400 in Florida lately? I have used it before. First time I had to go to the counter and do some talking, the last time they had my car on the board. Just wonder if they are getting stricter with IDs based on some other posts.

D005297 amateur sports assistance program

I have used this code more times than I can remember in the past year. I have even used it at home. I have never been asked for any ID. A home counter rep once remarked my "convention code" was the absolute lowest rate anyone can get. Don't know if that is true. I have compared it on line with some codes that are gov't related (which means I would not risk booking with it) and I have rarely found anything better. The Farmers code recently was a couple of bucks less but I ended up not getting FF miles. Avis replied that it doesn't qualify for FF earning. I love that the acronym for this code is ASAP :p

.

On an upcoming sfo rental where other AWDs were pricing out at 237 a.i. for a 3 day weekend , the asap came back with 97 a.i..

I noticed that the ASAP rate only works up to a premium vehicle and then prices beyond that sky rocket upwards.
Being Avis Pres, I wonder what sort of upgrade Ill get with this rate.

Any recent renterst who can confirm what the underage policy is with ASAP?

jagel May 26, 2009 3:58 am

Here's an update on my experience: I reserved a compact at LAX for 7 days with the D005297 code at $200 (inc. all taxes), half the price of the corporate rate I could get. Avis gave me a small Hyundai SUV - which I think was an upgrade. I'm Avis Preferred, and they didn't ask for anything additional when I picked up the car.

The only issue I have now is I want to extend the rental for another two days, which will cost me $41 a day before tax, which I hate to pay since it's way more expensive on a daily basis than the 7 day rate I received!

Update on A113400 - Don't use it!

I used the A113400 state of FL rate over the weekend. When I showed up to pickup my car it wasn't on the board (my flight was over an hour late). I went to the preferred counter and the agent gave me a hard time. Asked for state of FL ID and proceeded to tell me that Avis is looking at all use of this code very carefully because "it's one of the most abused codes in the system" and "somehow it has gotten out and people who are not supposed to be using it are".

They did, but it was a stressful start to my weekend. Possibly he let it go because I am a President's club member and I had some back story prepared. I also had a backup at another rental in place.

I definitely did not get my President's Club automatic 2 car class upgrade - in fact I'm not even sure I got the Full Size I paid for!

USAA Coupons?

I am a USAA Member but have never used any of their codes for a rental nor have I used Avis before. I usually use Hertz with a Southwest Airlines or AAA code. I know the Avis AWD is A177232, but are there any coupons/coupon codes out there associated with USAA and Avis and if so, do you have to present an actual coupon upon rental?

Go to the USAA website and look up car rental. I'm booking a trip to London and am looking for good deals. There are coupons there that may apply. So far though I'm getting slightly better rates using the AA code - but one difference is the USAA code allows for additional drivers.

Helpful discounts and coupons

I haven't posted on here for awhile so I apologize if the codes and coupons I list are a repeat. I am flying back to FL to visit family and have found that AWD K199060 (Florida tourism can be used by anyone) gave me a weekly rental for $190.82 (renting in Tallahassee and dropping off in Tampa with NO drop off fee). I coupled that with coupon UUWA055 (electronic coupon that doesn't need to be presented) for a free upgrade (only on subcompact, compact, and intermediate class).

Here a links to other Avis discounts and/or coupons. Good luck and have a safe trip!

I've found the same thing with the Farmers code and no FF miles/points recently. Also, there's a new issue with the Farmers code - it seems to only give 125 miles per day, whereas it generally used to give unlimited mileage. I just made a booking and noticed this. I did several test bookings at other airports and found it was the same at all of them, so I think it may be a global change for this code. Beware!

Welcome to FT! You're better off looking/posting in the Germany forum. You should have better luck there b/c you're not limiting yourself to one car company.

Good luck.
