Wow, thanks for the info. I will try to update my profile. I am happy to help as i travel about 35-40 times a year in the US.
The dates are May 17th at Noon, returning the Car June 3rd at 3pm. At Frankfurt Airport or i could do the Hauptbahnhof since the train goes straight from Airport to Hauptbahnhof.
I tried Costco code, actually i tried dozens, i haven't listed them, the best deal after taxes i found was using Avis Avis A108303 costco.

Thanks

One quick way that I see to POSSIBLY save some money is to pick up the car at 1:30 PM (instead of noon) on May 17, and return it at 2 PM (instead of 3 PM) on June 3, because anything over 29 minutes will be counted as another day. So, by doing that, you could possibly change your 17 day rental to a 16 day rental. Next, see if there is a difference in rates if you book it on avis.com vs. avis.de. Try both sites, two different ways, by signing in with your username, and specifically NOT signing in with your username. This may also yield a rate difference.

I am looking to rent a convertible one way from LAX to SFO. When I search they show "sold out" but when I alter the rental to be just LAX to LAX they show available. What gives? Are one way rentals not allowed?

Anyone ever do a one way from LAX to SFO? Any ideas?

Yes, they are allowed, but they are discouraged. They are both more expensive for you, and a PITA for Avis. You can probably arrange for that one way rental by calling Avis rez, instead of trying to do it on avis.com.

it's giving only 10% discount on the rack one.

Does anyone have another code with more aggressive discount? Switzerland has one of the highest car rental rates in the world.

Avis Discount Codes

Got burned today for the first time using a code. They agent asked who I worked for and when it wasn't the right answer he removed code. Rate went up :( I'll post the code later as I don't have it with me. He said it was some insurance company but his accent made it impossible for me to understand what he said.

In which place this thing happened to you?

Decent Rate

Try X846850 - seemed to give me a great rate compared to others.

What is this rate for? Is it your corporate/reward code? You've had the similar post 5x in 5.5 years, but I can't seem to get it to give a better rate than many other publicly posted/noted AWDs. Even in the locations you suggest (ORD/DCA/DFW).

This is a very unusual, though entirely plausible situation. The vast majority of agents either never ask, or do not have the face time with you (because your contract is already in a waiting car) in order to ask what the code is for or where you work. Knowing the name of the affiliated company is always the best preparation. If you do not work for that company, just say you have a consulting contract with them, or something similar. Also, if you can make a mental note (or save the information in your smart phone, as I do) where you have seen or experienced such a thing is always helpful. Also, your status with Avis will have a lot to do with both the likelihood of an agent asking you, and also the opportunity that any agent will have to ask you (in other words, if the contract is already in a waiting car, then an agent will likely never have the chance to ask), but if you have a lower status which requires you to go to the counter before check out, then you would be much more "exposed."

Yes, please, share this information with us.

Yes, I agree with IAH, some obscure AWD, without the associated information for it makes that AWD all but unusable for the rest of us, and repetitive reposting of the AWD, without the supporting information, does not make it any better than the last time you posted it. Considering the above posting from epost77, it also makes using such a code quite risky, which regular renters, such as IAHtraveler and myself, would avoid like the plague!
