AWD numbers are assigned to long term negotiated contracts between corporate accounts and Avis. Coupon codes are relatively short term (months) promotional perks assigned to various promotions. Coupon codes are generally subject to blackout dates and other restrictions, and have somewhat limited value to the frequent business traveler in my opinion. And yes, I would guess that most people are aware that both programs can be applied to a single reservation since you are allowed to enter both numbers on any reservation. It's not as complex as you would imply it to be.

LOL at the blackout dates on some of those. Several were blacked out for most of March and April due to "spring golf season."

Are you referring to AWD Number: A972200 ?
That's the only one I know of that has reduced mileage. Additional miles are $0.25 per mile. Note: this AWD does NOT earn FF miles - FYI |

WOW:D:D, there are some awesome deals to be had through the CapitalOne portal.
Just got back from a PCH drive and of course had to go all out and go for a convertable. One way SFO to SAN, Convertable Mustang, 4 Day rental cost me $116 total!!!^^^^ Good thing I decided I wanted to go north to south so that I could live on the edge, I originally got a price of $345 SAN to SFO. I have a capital one card but not a reward one, not sure I can get it. |

Have you thought about calling Capital One and asking for the Avis AWD?

Why would I do that if I can simply ask you? :p

Maybe reading the past 5 pages of this thread and Google will provide better results than asking.
This thread has saved me some cash over the years. Thanks!! |

Looks like you're doing that very well on your own ;-)
PS. Oh, and the reason my name is USirritated is fairly obvious if you just read my profile. USAirways alienated a lot of their most loyal customers, and ran a lot of elite members out. I was one of them, hence, I was irritated at USAirways. Got it? |

In my opinion, a very misleading and useless list. It has never been very helpful to list coupon codes because they have very short expiration lives.
I also don't believe that anyone here is that much of an authority that they can reliably "rate" and put their stamp of approval on hundreds of discount codes. I have had personal experience with several of the codes on Sam's list and I totally disagree with many of his "ratings". I'd much rather recommend that people read more of the posts that are code specific and chooose their own "best code" rather than rely on the ratings of some self-appointed "authority". Perhaps i would feel differently if each code rating had a reasonable explanation why it was rated as it is (good, great, ok). But that would require actual knowledge instead of just idle time. What exactly is "misleading" here? his rates are probably based on his experience, if you don't agree with one of the ratings, point them out and explain why! Dont post blanket statements without any basis. And more: what in the world is "useless" here? I just saved money on a rental after trying a few AWDs and coupons. that's "useless" in your eyes?? |
