Okay, fine... Most FTers (the majority of whom are US/Canada residents). :p
charters37, you might consider listing some bio stuff so people know your area/country, airline affiliations, etc. It well may help people when answering your inquiries. I was hoping this code would help reduce my expenses. I did talk to Avis Customer Service, late yesterday, they told me the G417900 discount code is for a company. If you use this code, and do have an accident & you're not employed by them then what happens. I'm not going to take the risk. You're not being truthful. If anyone has info different than this, I hope they post it here. |

Just get a code that is legit ( AAA, Delta, AARP, Costco, etc) and pickup up the car with no stress or worries that your gonna get in a jam over this. For a short term rental your not gonna save enough to change your lifestyle. There's always some degree of risk (however minimal) when you use a code that your really not authorized to use. If you don't have the stomach for it...don't do it. Use a legit discount code and be satisfied with the discount you get. The insurance is always a concern for me too. I have been using the Amex Premium rental insurance for $19.95 per rental. For me, since my rentals are always several days, it's only a few bucks a day for primary coverage. I happen to use the G417900 code all the time, with the LDW included. But I still ALWAYS buy the American Express Premium Rental Insurance also. If you search hard enough, you can always find a code that is a couple bucks cheaper than another for a particular rental. I just choose to find a reliable code, that works well with no hassle, and stick with it. LDW is not shown on the agreement. If your uncomfortable, I'd stick with the cheapest code you can find, and buy the insurance. Go to page 73 of this thread, thru about page 78. There has been some good conversation regarding insurance issues. |

I too use Amex Premium Rental Protection... but mine is $24.95 per rental (up to 21 days). Is there another Amex rental insurance of which I am not aware?

If I had an accident, after using G417900 & since I don't own a car, won't my parent's be liable, for what the insurance doesn't cover? I'm sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I have a very limited income & save to take short trip about once a year. Every dollar counts for me. I have the use of a credit card that's, my mother's & I have a card on that account. She requires me to pay it in full, when it come due. |

D005297-Can anyone tell me if this code is still good? It hasn't really been talked about lately and I wonder if it is not working anymore. I read that this code would take care of the underage fees. This is the most important to me. I am renting a car this week and want to know for sure that I am not going to have to pay for the underage fees. I have a back-up reservation just in case that I know will work, but the reservation with avis is over a hundred dollars cheaper. Please help. Thanks.

Yah.. $19.95 per rental period (not per day) for $75k primary coverage. $24.95 per rental period for $100k coverage. I should probably switch to the $24.95 plan. [From Amex site] Q: Doesn't personal car insurance or business insurance cover these kinds of events? A: It's possible that a Cardmember's personal car insurance or business insurance might cover these types of losses. However, here are a few things to keep in mind: PCRP is primary insurance of theft and damage to the rented vehicle, which means enrollees won't have to dip into their own insurance first, or pay a deductible. Also, insurance policies often vary in their coverage of rental cars, or out-of-state or international driving. Cardmembers should check personal policies carefully to see whether they're covered for rental cars. But this plan covers enrollees almost anywhere in the world. |
