As of 2/12/14: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this AWD. It's great" type of posts. When the AWD doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the AWD of someone so the poster can earn free days from their Avis Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the AWD or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here.

Just got back from a PCH drive and of course had to go all out and go for a convertable.
One way SFO to SAN, Convertable Mustang, 4 Day rental cost me $116 total!!!^^^^
Good thing I decided I wanted to go north to south so that I could live on the edge, I originally got a price of $345 SAN to SFO.

B449700
I've searched high and low and can't find out what association this code B449700 is tied to.
The discount it gives me is ridiculously good. So good that I fear it may be an Avis Employee only code (and I wouldn't wanto use that).
Does anyone know definitively?

Samkey, thanks for all of those coupons (the numbers which begin with 4 letters) and the AWD numbers (Avis Worldwide Discount numbers, the numbes which begin with 1 letter). However, it is important for readers of this thread to know - AWD numbers are risky to use without knowing the companies or associations those numbers are connected to.
While renters are not usually asked what their AWD is for, or why a renter has a right to use a specific AWD number, it does happen occasionally, ESPECIALLY when the AWD number is restricted in some way.
Examples of restricted numbers are those for:

- Avis employees
- Government or military personnel
- Specific kinds of government contractors
- Specifically associated with a credit card, where the renter is not using the credit card associated with the AWD for that specific rental.

Once again, if it begins with ONE LETTER, it is an AVIS WORLDWIDE DISCOUNT number (associations or corporations), and if it begins with FOUR LETTERS, it is an AVIS COUPON number, which are generally usable for anyone.

Thanks USIrritated, I appreciate your helpful response. I personally feel better using a code I qualify for, so I'm definitely not chancing it.
But I have to admit, man that rate code was SOOO tempting (it was more than 50% off the Costco rate!)
Cheers,
jetsetter777

Again, SamKey, what company or association is A442100 associated with?

re: samkeys spreadsheet list
In my opinion, a very misleading and useless list. It has never been very helpful to list coupon codes because they have very short expiration lives.
I also don't believe that anyone here is that much of an authority that they can reliably "rate" and put their stamp of approval on hundreds of discount codes. I have had personal experience with several of the codes on Sam's list and I totally disagree with many of his "ratings". I'd much rather recommend that people read more of the posts that are code specific and chooose their own "best code" rather than rely on the ratings of some self-appointed "authority". Perhaps i would feel differently if each code rating had a reasonable explanation why it was rated as it is (good, great, ok). But that would require actual knowledge instead of just idle time.

Bob1008, do you know the difference between AWD numbers and coupon codes? Do most people here know the difference?
Also do most people know that both AWD and coupon codes can be used on every reservation, and both will affect the rate renters will pay?

AWD numbers are assigned to long term negotiated contracts between corporate accounts and Avis. Coupon codes are relatively short term (months) promotional perks assigned to various promotions. Coupon codes are generally subject to blackout dates and other restrictions, and have somewhat limited value to the frequent business traveler in my opinion. And yes, I would guess that most people are aware that both programs can be applied to a single reservation since you are allowed to enter both numbers on any reservation. It's not as complex as you would imply it to be.
