As of 2/12/14: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this AWD. It's great" type of posts. When the AWD doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the AWD of someone so the poster can earn free days from their Avis Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the AWD or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here.

And yes, I would guess that most people are aware that both programs can be applied to a single reservation since you are allowed to enter both numbers on any reservation. It's not as complex as you would imply it to be.
A lot of people do not know the difference, and are not aware that both can and should be used whenever possible. Even for those who do know the difference, it is often hard to tell, because so many people use some variation of the terms "code number" or "coupon number" or "discount code" or "rate code," etc.

LOL at the blackout dates on some of those. Several were blacked out for most of March and April due to "spring golf season."

That's the only one I know of that has reduced mileage. Additional miles are $0.25 per mile.

Note: this AWD does NOT earn FF miles - FYI
But to earn miles don't you have to use a particular AWD/Coupon code combo thus invalidating the discount associated with A972200 or any other AWD found on this thread?

Good thing I decided I wanted to go north to south so that I could live on the edge, I originally got a price of $345 SAN to SFO.
What was your AWD or coupon for that?
I have a capital one card but not a reward one, not sure I can get it.

Have you thought about calling Capital One and asking for the Avis AWD?

Why would I do that if I can simply ask you?

Because you p**s people off by being lazy and asking others to do something you could actually more easily do yourself.

Maybe reading the past 5 pages of this thread and Google will provide better results than asking.

This thread has saved me some cash over the years.

Thanks!!

I think that if you ask some of the more regular posters on this thread, you will both find that they disagree with you, that I actually do put in time and effort helping others, and that I have done so for several years. This is a nice community (FlyerTalk), and a nice forum (Avis), with people who like to help each other, and share tips and tricks, etc. At the same time, we also like people who make a bit of effort to help themselves, and do not just expect others here to do all of their research for them. FlyerTalk is a nice place for nice people, let's try to keep it that way, what do you say?

PS. Oh, and the reason my name is USirritated is fairly obvious if you just read my profile. USAirways alienated a lot of their most loyal customers, and ran a lot of elite members out. I was one of them, hence, I was irritated at USAirways. Got it?

I also don't believe that anyone here is that much of an authority that they can reliably "rate" and put their stamp of approval on hundreds of discount codes. I have had personal experience with several of the codes on Sam's list and I totally disagree with many of his "ratings". I'd much rather recommend that people read more of the posts that are code specific and chooose their own "best code" rather than rely on the ratings of some self-appointed "authority". Perhaps i would feel differently if each code rating had a reasonable explanation why it was rated as it is (good, great, ok). But that would require actual knowledge instead of just idle time.
Huh? "a very misleading and useless list"?
What exactly is "misleading" here? his rates are probably based on his experience, if you don't agree with one of the ratings, point them out and explain why! Dont post blanket statements without any basis.
And more: what in the world is "useless" here? I just saved money on a rental after trying a few AWDs and coupons. that's "useless" in your eyes??
