Has anyone used the AWD A074800 recently? I'm planning a trip and want to rent a car in early october for 2 days (from port canaveral, after a cruise, and return it to orlando airport) and this code gives a great price. I just want to know if it still works without ID (I have not citi cards, nor can I get one)

I have used the code for quite some time. Most airport locations have gotten hip to it and will ask you for ID. I have NEVER been asked for ID to use that AWD code at an Avis location that is not located at an airport. And recently, on several occasions, I have been successful at using the code at airport locations by accompanying my drivers license and credit card with a neatly folded $20 bill. I place the twenty between my license and CC and hand it to them (before they have a chance to ask for the ID) and say "I know I am supposed to have a Florida ID, but I don't have it with me. I am hoping you can overlook that this one time." Not only has it worked every time so far, but every time I have been upgraded to a FAR SUPERIOR car than the one I booked. I can tell you that for longer rentals (more days) the $20 is well worth it. Even for a two day rental, some of the other codes on here are $118 for an economy car, where the FL code is $49. Worth a crisp twenty? It is to me!

Request: Florence Car Rental

Hello Fellow Travelers,

I am seeking your advice on renting an Automatic transmission compact rental car in Florence, Italy for 3 full days October 3rd - Oct 5th for my honeymoon. I have been trolling around this forum and playing with different codes, but my best price is >$450! I feel this is outrageous given some of the other bargains members have been able to get, so I am asking for your help.

I want to make the most of my limited budget for our honeymoon and the car rental is currently eating a large portion of our discretionary spend. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

AJ

Avis AWD code

I have just been told about AWD E153702 which gives a very big discount on a forthcoming car hire in Italy. I am anxious about using it though, as I don't know where this code comes from. Does anyone know if it is a staff code or has anyone used it successfully?

Dan98 Aug 23, 2011 11:32 am

JFS: It does lowers the rates significantly all over Europe as far as I can tell , I did some simulations with that code.

Another good code that reduces the rates, not as good as E153702 but still good enough for use it is E400000

Here are some examples

The first one is using no AWD , residency Romania for a one week rental in Lisbon Main Railway Station, Lisbon, C4S from Nov 9 - 16, 2011

This is using E40000

and this one using E153702

So far the code you've found is the best, I still miss the old K444404 one :-)

No worries using the E400000 , it's listed on many websites including Avis personal ones

http://www.avis.nl/avisonline/be-nl/...%A9cial_Agents
http://www.ifkl.dk/rabataftaler.aspx...AUTO-UDLEJNING

Just say if you're asked that a travel agent made the booking for you, though you won't be asked anything.

Looking for more good codes like K444404

L.E.: Found another good one W000400

E153702 gives a good reduced rate in new zealand too, but does not allow you to add LDW. Says LDW is not available

It's annoying, but not "outrageous" - Europeans drive stick shifts much more than we do in the US, so the manual transmissions are much more readily available to rent. Not sure you will get much of a break on what is considered a "luxury" there.

More important, are you prepared for the possibility that when you get to Florence, the local Avis won't have an automatic available, even if you have a reservation? That does happen, and if you can't drive a stick shift, that would be a miserable way to begin a honeymoon. (Congratulations, BTW!) I urge you (and soon-to-be-spouse?) to spend time practicing driving a standard transmission before you travel. Then you could switch the reservation to a standard (cheaper) transmission, or take the luck of the draw.

This is a very nice code….Would also like to use it but can't find any info regarding eligibility. Anyone?

Do the discount codes ever apply to pre-paid rates? For example every time I try to put an AWD number in, it only shows me a pay-at-counter rate, so it is automatically more expensive.

Also, I am looking for an under age waiver. But at what point in the booking process (for a pre-paid rate) does the fee get added - or does it get added when I collect or drop-off the car? I have seen some codes which apparently remove the under age fee - but do I get any sort of confirmation about whether the fee will get applied or not? Is it just a guessing game - so do I just turn up and assume I might need to pay the fee?

Looking to rent in Canada YVR - does anyone know what the under age fee is?

Thanks.

This code was advertised way back in 1986 in the Spanish newspaper ABC as an incentive to get an Avis Wizard Number, so at that point it was apparently available to the general public. I can't find any of its history since then.

You can find it mentioned way down at the bottom of the page on

The relevant bit is:

Freaked out over code

Hey all,

So I have tried every legit Avis code I have (airlines, credit unions...) and AWD (A074800) blows them all away... $450 down to $127 for an SUV. I am freaked out that the deal is too good. I know that it is Citi Corp leisure travel but I cannot find any other info on it. Is it for Citi employees or card holders (I have a Citi AA card)and I think I saw someone say you needed an FLA ID?

It feels like the discount is soooooo big that it will raise some eyebrows. Details: renting from downtown San Fran and returning to SFO. 2 day rental.

Any 411 that anyone could offer would be much appreciated.

For what it's worth I followed a suggestion early in this thread:

Also, try Google with the following keywords:
conference avis awd month year location
where you replace month, year, and location with your required data ...

And found a great conference rate in my city on my dates. It is actually in my field so I can pretty easily pull this one off without worrying about ID's.
