I am considering getting Lifemile plus subscription.

however if I book award tix for my wife only using my account, would I be able to cancel the award tix for free?

Yes, any ticket booked with an active LM+ Basic subscription will have free cancellation.
  1. It has to be at least basic level, not lite.
  2. You are committing to a 6 month agreement, just remember to cancel at the start of the 6th month to avoid getting billed a 7th month (if you don't need it)
  3. Your subscription must be active if and when you decide to cancel. Even if you pay the full 6 months and book it while being a subscriber, if you cancel the subscription you'll lose the ability to get the free refund.
  4. Please take a screenshot of the confirmation page after you buy the subscription. Feel free to read about my journey of buying LM+ Basic and never receiving the benefit. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/avia...-received.html. It took them 8 months to reply to a support request, by which point I had already initiated a request with my CC (Avianca Cardless card) to get a refund (and received it). After you pay you'll get a page that thanks you for your purchase and says like "your benefits are active as of today's date". Screenshot it!

Also, you can downgrade from Basic to Lite if you no longer need the free cancellation benefit for the remainder of the 6m commitment :) Saves some $$$

Did I get the wrong LifeMiles+ subscription?

I signed up for LM+ $99/mo tier (but $79/mo bc of my status) about one week ago and booked a flight using my LM yesterday (for a family member). I get a message saying refunds are $30. Shouldn’t they be free now? What am I doing wrong?

I also have LM Diamond status fwiw.

($30 refund)

Terms fro the program are clear to me

To enjoy the benefit of no additional charges for changes and cancellations for redemptions made through lifemiles.com, the member must have an active lifemiles+ subscription and be up to date with the payments of any plan.

I would call LifeMiles to ask.

866-919-0081
2 for English
Enter LifeMiles number (to get quick pickup)
3 for LifeMiles
3 for questions about LifeMiles
(I've called enough times lol)

It will be free when you call to cancel.

What's the latest on the LM+ and mixed cabin redemptions? Is it working/discounting properly?

Is this number working? When i call it using skype it is not working for quite some time. Some other numbers like the UK number work. But most don't work. Added bonus. When i work myself through the phone menu i just receive the announcement "error" at the end and the call will be ended. Happens outside office hours. Before it was the case in the columbian night before 06am or 07am. In this moment it is 08:31 and i still receive that announcement "error". What are their call times now? Before it was 24 hours. Seems they got rid of staff. The agents are also inexperienced lately. Is there any number with 24 hours service as of now?

I take that back, just spoke with someone at 4am Colombia time. Following this, except last step is pressing number 2

As agent advised me, apparently there's a way to cancel awards online now, here are the steps:

You can easily request a refund directly at https://www.lifemiles.com/fly/find

Steps to request a refund:

· Select “Other Services” → “Refund with miles”.
· Click “Refund Request” and log in using PNR + Last Name, TKT + Last Name, or EMD + Last Name.
· Verify passenger information and contact email.
· Select refund reason (voluntary).
· Choose refund method: card, voucher, or miles.
· Confirm and pay the redeposit fee.

You’ll receive confirmation and refund summary.

Completed the cancellation (I am LM+ so free, less the $25 redemption fee), miles refunded instantly, taxes take up to 30 calendar days as per agent.

Update: refund (for the cash) approved and issued 24h~ later and hit my card

This is quite impressive.

I had subscribe to the Lifemiles plus plan where I was earning 600 miles per month for $12. Recently, I was approved for the credit card, so I now get the Lifemiles lite plan for free. Today, they still charged me $12 and gave me 600 miles for the other plan. How do I cancel the Lifemiles plus plan as I no longer want to pay the $12?

When I logged into manage plans, it shows the lite plan. I was afraid to hit cancel out of fear that it would cancel this free plan.

Just do the cancellation. If it fully removes your plan, including the one you get for free, just contact the credit card company and they'll figure it out for you.

I had an issue with my account wherein my Silver benefits from the Cardless card were not being instated with the new card year. My lounge visits were reading 0, everything was 0 (my wife's account, same card, was reporting fine, so I knew something was wrong). So I contacted LifeMiles. In attempting to fix the issue they completely removed my status all together - my account showed NO status at all. Their assistance was useless, they kept saying "make sure you did the necessary activities to achieve the silver status". It is so stupid how they don't even have knowledge of the credit card, it is like it doesnt exist to them. So I just went through Cardless to get it resolved, opened a ticket. Within a week or so everything got fixed.

This is a great development. Thanks for flagging. Just used it after waiting in vain for 30 minutes on hold. Miles credited instantly. Will save a lot of time going forward.
