I decided to buy the Lifemiles plus "World" plan just to be sure (plan Basic, $50). Bought the plan today, called Lifemiles to cancel, reminded them of my (brand new) Lifemiles Plus Basic status, and was waived the cancellation fee. Points are back in the account.
Interestingly they asked what country I called from. I said US but I have no idea what happens if I would have said e.g. Colombia. There is no way they can check where the caller is physically, and I do not really see the relevance. But saying US worked, and having a Lifemiles Plus subscription that was less than an hour old was okay.
Now switch to the Lite plan and/or cancel the virtual card used.
I did try the online cancellation a day or two ago, which seemed to work, but as I did not have Lifemiles Plus at that point I broke off the process before paying the fee. That triggered the site to block another online attempt to cancel. Calling in took about 17 minutes, and was relatively straightforward.

They allowed you to cancel a ticket issued BEFORE purchasing the Basic LM+?? Lucky you. Also, you are the first.

Hi, I saw this question asked earlier in the thread, but didn't see a response

"do free cancellations apply only to Lifemiles+ account holder or to all pax on single PNR booked from plus owners account?"

i'm wondering if I need Lifemiles+ subs for myself and partner for free cancellations if two pax booked on same ticket? (I realise Lite doesn't cover)

Can anyone kindly offer guidance

Many thanks!

It applies on ALL tickets issued from the Lifemiles+ account, regardless of who is travelling.

Thanks mlqsko

...and another piece of LM+ advice sought (from a LM newbie) - re whether LM+Latin America Plan 2 has different benefits from LM+ Basic

My LM account is registered as Rest of The World ( i don't currently have any form of LM+)

I’m looking at an award ticket from London to Lima in July and the miles are quoted either in full or discounted with the offer to join Lifemiles+Latin America on the spot (part of thne booking process)

This lists the options for Lifemiles+Latin America as Plan 1, Plan 2 etc - -- not Lite, Basic etc as I've seen when researching LM+ elsewhere

It lists the non-elite membership price for Plan 2 as just $23.70 monthly if I’m signing up while booking an award ticket

But if I go to the Lifemiles+ website, the membership fee for Basic is significantly more - $50/month

What I cannot tell from the website offer is whether the Plan 2 on Lifemiles+latin America includes free cancellation/changes (as Basic does).

It’s this waiving of fees for cancellation/changes that would be as important for me as the 10% discount in LM points on my award booking in terms of joining Lifemiles+

With thanks for any further clarification

The online refund tool works very well for me - I joined LM+ after my tickets were issued and it waived the cancellation fee. If you start the refund process it will create a refund request (you get an email) and if you do not complete the process you will not be able to start the online refund tool with the same PNR again (it will show a message with the number of the refund request case). However after about two hours the refund request is cancelled and you can start again.

Following up on my own post, I opted for regular Lifemiles+ Basic, to be safe, as I could not work out from the booking site what was covered by Lifemiles+Latin America Plan 2

LON-LIM Bookings all made, option to change/cancel for free in place, with thanks to posters on this forum who helped me understand some of the twists and turns of the Lifemiles programme

Happy travels all!

Anyone know if the free cancellation benefit applies on a "basic" class award booking (aka their version of basic economy)?

I have Diamond status + I am on their $79 /monthly "Plan 4" for their subscription plan.
Does anyone know why I am being charged $40 redeposit fee for a Lifemiles booking (on AV metal)?

Is there any deadline period for the free cancellation? E.g. within 24 hours

Or is it like the normal award tickets where cancellation and refund (minus the 25 USD partner redemption fee) can even be done after the flight i.e. no-show?

You can't actually cancel T-24 and T+24, it is a lifemiles limitation. But there's no deadline, even noshow tickets are fully refundable (free with lifemiles+ or $200 without).

I enrolled in Lifemiles+ on 1/27 solely for the 25% discount on an award redemption for my family of 5. The award redemption has been booked and ticketed. Last week, I received an email indicating that my LM+ subscription is temporarily suspended, due to not having a valid payment method on file (even though the payment method I initially used is still active). The emails says I have 21 days to updated my payment method, otherwise my LM+ subscription would be permanently cancelled. I don't particularly want or need the subscription, as I've already received the discount. However, at the time I booked the flights and enrolled, it said that the minimum enrollment period is 6 months. Does anyone know if allowing my subscription to be cancelled by not updating my payment method would affect my flights in any way?

There are reports that nothing will happen. But you are violating their T&Cs, so YMMV. The flights will not be affected, but your account and future transactions may be.

This is technically a backdoor way to get LM+ cancelled before 6 months, but it is against their T&C. Your tickets are fully booked, so they can't undo it, but the violation of the T&C on LM+ will just leave a black mark on your account for the future - I doubt you'll be able to get LM+ again in the future (if that matters to you).

Wasn’t sure where to put it, but Revolut points now also transfer 1:1 to Lifemiles
