I just redeemed my last LifeMiles today so in the end I bought another 20K+20K about 5 minutes before the promo ended. I am pretty confident that I will always be able to get the $15/1K miles value out of the miles, even after the devaluation. And it's good to have at least a few miles for emergencies. No last-minute booking fees with LifeMiles, so that makes them pretty useful.

The Buymiles promo is still on at least for me - I just got 80,000 miles (2*40) for $1200 total about 4 minutes ago.

As said above, it tends to work for a few hours the day after the promo. Also the price per 1000 mile is still at 30 USD currently.

Still working until October 3rd, it seems!

Woke up this morning and thought I missed it, but it looks like it’s good through October 3rd now? Clicked through and the site said:

Buy miles 2×1 and live them more!
Buy miles and receive the double!

Buy miles 2×1 is back! The promotion that has been recognized as the best in the Americas, at the 2014 Freddie Awards.

Between September 2nd and October 3rd, for each block of 1,000 miles you buy, LifeMiles will give you a bonus of 100% more that can be redeem to fly to more than 1,250 destinations with Avianca, Star Alliance member airlines and other partner airlines. You can also enjoy your miles with the program’s extensive commercial partner network:

They were more than happy to take my credit card and my new 2 for 1 mileage shows on my LifeMiles account and AwardWallet!

Same here. But you have to watch carefully to make sure the bonus shows up on the following page after you initially enter the miles you want to buy and see the doubling. Sometimes it appears to double the miles for the same price you expect, but then it drops the bonus on the following page. Watch carefully.

If you enter 50k and get a 50k on the first screen for "buying" then make sure the following page has 50k lisred twice.

I wish we knew whether the cash+points price of miles at the lowest point will remain $15 or increase as well. I am thinking whether I should buy more now or wait.

I know this is very individual, but how big of a stash are people keeping in LifeMiles going forward?

It's risky to bite. They devalue the miles on the face of things, increase the costs of acquiring and/or holding miles, and then -- behind the customer's back -- stab award space availability at the historically standard kind of price level. Who wants to be a masochist in front of the sadistic "loyalty" program operators.

I bought enough miles for immediate redemption use and a few "domesic" or intra-regional awards that I can book within 21-2 days and yet avoid the rip-off rapid redemption and some other fees.
