Have you asked the agent that you booked with to see if they can offer a solution....?

evie01 Feb 26, 2013 10:25 am

The agent's looking at the moment to see what the best option is, but her suggestion so far is to leave a day earlier from Europe, spend 12 hrs in BA and then get the flight with the new time as it is now. Obviously this isn't ideal for me, and I'm fairly sure that AA aren't going to cover the cost of the hotel for the night!

From experience, what are the chances that they're going to move things again? I might just wait until August and see how things stand and make a decision then, hoping that nothing else drastic changes or seats sell out.

Gaucho100K Feb 26, 2013 10:39 am

You should ask the AA related question on schedule changes over on the AA forum....

evie01 Feb 26, 2013 3:20 pm

Sorry, I seem to have confused things a bit (or else I'm just muddled). By AA I mean Aerolineas Argentinas, I can't see that they have a specific forum or am I missing it?

They barely have a specific airline  - AR is the code for Aerolineas. Chances are good you'll have yet another schedule change or two this far out. This would be the same for pretty much any airline. AR is obligated to get you from point A to point B. Sometimes, AR lives up to its obligations. The best news possible is that you are on a single ticket, and unless it was a forced illegal connection by a travel agent (and it wasn't, given the original flight times) you will be in "as good of shape as possible" with AR. (I know that is like the doctor saying "he's as well as can be expected" after a tractor drove over the patient's head, but I'm giving you a half-full glass, which means (1) you have a glass, and (2) it is half-full, two steps above the typical AR experience.

To be fair to Aerolineas they aren't the only airline to change schedules especially around that time of year. I've recently had notifications of schedule changes to both BA and IB flights for May. From what I've seen LAN are the worst at doing it....they think nothing of cancelling flights altogether with little notification.

As it's all on one ticket you have nothing to worry about.

Sentence two.... well, remember he holds an AR ticket.....

6 days in Buenos Aires, what to do?

Hi there EZE specialists :)

Me and my GF are going to EZE next week for 6 nights. It is our first time in EZE and Argentina (and South America for that matter).

We will arrive from FRA (LH had two F award seats available ^) into EZE at 0650 in the morning on thursday. Is this the busiest arrival time? Should we expect long lines?

We will stay at the Sofitel in the city centre (?) on Arroyo street.

As we have never been in EZE before we are looking for advice about everything from were- to go, to shop, to eat, to drink, to party and what to see while we are there.

I really want to catch a football game and I think Boca Juniors have a home game while we are in town. Does anyone have any recommendations or experiences with this?

Cheers
Stein

You are arriving prior to most of the bank of North America flights, which means you should likely not suffer long lines.

The Sofitel Arroyo has a very good Concierge Desk. If you want a full service/turnkey solution for the Boca Juniors match, I suggest you get the Concierge to arrange this for you. The do it yourself solution will be too much work, chances you may not get proper tickets, so I would go with the Concierge. I suggest you be specific about what you want... if you are OK with just any seating thats fine, but you are flying down in F and staying at a very nice hotel, so I assume that you enjoy and are willing to pay for the good things in life... therefore, I suggest you tell the Concierge what you want and have them do their job.

This forum has tons of info on where to eat, and most of it is updated. I suggest you browse threads. Be careful with using the Concierge for restaurant recs. as in this department, they are many times biased by the Tourist trap places that offer kickbacks for reservations. Please read up on the threads and ask questions there, I will be happy to answer them with the updated info. I have.

Have you arranged for airport transportation to the Sofitel...? Also, remember to bring down Cash, preferably US Dollars to take advantage of the ForEx spreads.

Please feel free to PM or email me if you have any further or more specific questions... if you are into Fine Wines then we need to talk in any event... :p

Cheers,
Alex / Gaucho100K

I have tried but there are 203 pages of what to do and not to do, and were to to eat etc. in this thread, so considering my timeframe I thought it was easier to ask.

I just need some pointers :-)

I wouldn't worry too much if you can't do much pre-planning...BsAs is pretty tourist friendly so just relax and take it as it comes.
It's a big city but the touristy parts are concentrated in the centre. On your first day you'll be tired so I would take the sightseeing tour bus just to get your bearings. You can take note of places you like the look of for further exploration on foot. The shopping really depends on what you're looking for.....Florida is the main shopping street but I prefer Ave Santa Fe and the Alto Palermo shopping centre for run of the mill stuff.

I like to walk when I'm there so if you're the same then you're coming at a good time as the temperature is dropping now which makes walking a much more comfortable experience. Gaucho100K has put some good links in this thread so spend a while researching them. The first one is especially good.

Thanks Hiddy and Gaucho100K ^

We will try to read everything I come over until we leave, and the offical page looks good and is also in English :D

We will try to use the Concierge for most bookings, and we are really looking forward to out visit in Buenos Aires.

Cheers

Im all for being lazy... but you will have to do a little work if you want us to help you in the best possible way.... :D
