Yes, you can buy it in Casa China on Arribeños 2193 (in between Juramento and Mendoza) in Chinatown. I can't speak to the pasteurization of it but I have noticed it there. I buy soy milk and powdered almond milk (and a million other things there as I am trying to be a vegetarian).

I saw it 2 weeks ago but sometimes in this city stock changes quickly but I go there every 2 weeks to shop and have seen it quite often there so I'm hoping they should have it there.

Hmmm.... goat cheese I know, but goat milk...... I know of some organic goat milk producers but they sell their stuff far out in the suburbs, in San Fernando... not very practical and also they have a limited supply and most of the stuff is sold out (pre ordered). Let me see what I can dig up and will get back to you, Im afraid I cant promise anything.

Cheers,
Gaucho

I can go for some goat cheese (for me) too.
please let me know if you dig up anything on the milk. :)

Advice for in-laws?

Hey BA Flyertalk crew,

My in-laws are headed to BA for four days in December and are trying to figure out where to stay. They're 60-65 years old but very active physically and socially. They want to be "close to the action" and I think a good price range for them would be around $75-80/night or less. They enjoy small/charm/friendly in their hotels and B and Bs.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Have you tried airbnb.com? I have found their customer reviews to be very accurate and have had nothing but good experiences myself.

That is not too much notice for booking such a cheap hotel room.

I would try checking all of the hotel sites like Hotels.com, us.despegar.com or Booking.com and try to find something close to their needs.

Good luck.

I'm going down this weekend to BA and booked a 4-star hotel downtown (Castelar) on Expedia a couple of weeks ago for about $100/night (albeit at a non-refundable rate.) I'd expect you could find far lower rates at places that are as good if not better. Also, there are lots of independent boutique hotels in Palermo that are quite reasonable. I stayed at Hotel Costa Rica about a year ago for a night, and I think it was about $70/night.

The Castelar Hotel, is one of those really elegant buildings from Buenos Aires' heyday. The lobby is all marble, chandeliers, etc, but it's all in scrappy condition and the rooms are small and not very nice. Unless they have been renovated, in the last 2 years, which I dobut. I had a friend come to town a couple of years ago and he stayed at the Castelar and the room was small and dirty, and run down. Also it's at the intersection of Av. De Mayo and 9 de Julio, 2 of the busiest streets in the whole city with traffic 24/7 and when there are protests, they all come down these streets banging the drums and yelling into the loudspeakers. So request a room on the highest floor possible (it's probably only about 10 or maybe 12 floors high) and NOT facing the main street (Av. de Mayo). The good part is, it's VERY central to everything, restaurants, theaters, shopping, tourist attractions, but it's the older historic part of Buenos Aires, with some of the most impressive architecture in the city, but it's nowhere near the trendy areas of Palermo or elegant (and more sane) Recoleta. I live about 5 blocks away and the area in the last few years has gone downhill - garbage, homeless people picking through garbage cans, sleeping on the street, constant beggars, etc. Just make sure they DON'T wear any visible jewelery, watches, or cameras, and close watch on the pocketbooks and shopping bags. The crime is not violent but there are plenty of robberies.

Great post above.... I would stay clear of this hotel unless you can get some very new updated information on sites like TripAdvisor that confirm that the place has been renovated.

This past weekend was 2 years since the former president "Néstor Kirchner" died suddenly on census day. So all of the political groups (and there are hundreds now) decided to memoralize him around the country. On Av. de Mayo, right next to the Hotel Castelar, there is a Peronist group that has installed itself in one of the abandoned stores and floors above it. This weekend they decided to barbeque sausages on the street in front of their space RIGHT NEXT TO THE HOTEL CASTELAR, imagine an elegant building form the 1920's on the street with the most impressive architecture in Buenos Aires, making barbeque on the street in an old metal drum beer bottles and drunks everywhere food on the ground, garbage, it was horrible.....
