I'm really not sure of the address. All I remember is it was within about 100 feet of one of the subway entrances/exits. It might have been the A line near the Plaza Miserere stop. I walked from the A line to the B line and back and it was at the end of the walk, after visiting 10 or so stores along the way. Sorry I can't be more specific. If you're interested I can look at the lable on the off chance it has the name of the store on it.

Leather Jackets
There's a great store chain called Crayon that sells leather jackets. They have a warehouse store about 20 minutes by subway from downtown in a district that sells a lot of leather. They also have a store in big mall near the Sheraton Liberatador. Their outlet store is huge and amazing. Over two visits I bought 7 leather and suede jackets for myself and my wife. Each of them was less than $125.00. If I can find the address, I'll post it. But a concierge at a better hotel should be able to find it.

The label on the jacket is "Tostado" but I have no idea whether that is also the name of the store. I checked my old credit card bills to see if there were a reference to the store there, but I apparently paid cash for the jacket.
Sorry I can't be more help. I believe the store is on the main street that runs into the center of town on the subte line A. Look for the subte entrances along that street and the store is within 50-100 feet. I believe its on the left hand side if you were walking away from the city center (not sure of compass directions). It's a small store with the door on the right and a display window on the left. Pretty standard. Good luck. |
Washington Post on BsAs 4/23/06
Here's a nice long article on BsAs in the Sunday Washington Post.
|
Nice article... although the part about culture abbreviation is nonsense. There was something similar (although with much better research) published in the NY Times a couple of weeks back. Indeed, EZE is becoming more and more international these days.

On a side note, just about every breakfast place in Palermo Soho and Holywood have an American Breakfast special.... I think this reporter needs to come back and do his rounds.

Hmmm. I'm coming down for the September DO. Maybe you can suggest a range of possibilities which I can try out, then I'll write a letter to the Post and educate them. Always happy to help educate the world, especially if it involves food and travel. :D

It is near the Malabia subway station. They will bargain with you, cash is preferred. |
Murillo is indeed a good place for leather, although the best quality & designs are usually available at the brand name stores. More expensive, yes, but still some great deals when you compare similar quality in other capitals of the world.
