Purchased $300 e-gift card from gifts.marriott.com on Apr 12, 2022. $280 credit posted as April 16 on April 17; must've used $20 earlier in the card year. No e-mail confirmation received.

This thread saved me from booking a last minute staycation--my card anniversary was less than a week away. Cheers!

I'm currently near the end of my Marriott stay outside the US. I know I can purchase a gift card from gifts.marriott.com. However, can I just simply charge my current Marriott stay on my Bonvoy Brilliant, and then AMEX will just credit $300 to my account? Does it matter if my Marriott stay is abroad and, therefore, it'll be foreign currency?

That works. I got a credit for a charge in Spain.

So you just put your Bonvoy Brilliant into the payment terminal and a few days later you got the credit? I'm assuming anything that charges as a Marriott will qualify? I was wondering what is the best way to ensure I charge exactly US$300 on to my Bonvoy Brilliant? I rather use a different card to settle the difference as I don't need any more Bonvoy points (I have well over a million).

I don't remember if I or the staff put my card into the machine, but yes whatever is in your folio of room charges can be reimbursed. However, if you charge something at another part of the property, it's unlikely to be reimbursed. For example I was reimbursed for dining billed to my room, but not for dining where I paid the restaurant directly.

Just ask the front desk to split the payment on 2 cards. Estimate $300 USD in local currency in advance or maybe $305 to account for any good luck in the exchange rate.

Oh, ok, I'm glad everything is automatic, and I don't have to jump through any hurdles to use my $300 credit. Hopefully, AMEX won't throw any curveballs at me after charging my room rate to my Bonvoy Brilliant!

Bought a gift card about 5 days ago (via my authorised user's card), but there is no reimbursement yet. The charge is showing as MARRIOTT GIFT CARDS MIDVALE UT (6x points) - is it the same for everyone else?

Same. No $300 credit posted... I did it in March and it worked, but nothing this month. Card member anniversary was in April.

Marriot Bonvoy Brilliant $300 hotel credit question

Hi All-
New here and I have a Marriot Bonvoy Brilliant card. I have $300 hotel credit every anniversary year. Got the credit card in September 2021.
I booked a hotel which costed over $300 and once it went from pending to charge, I received my $300 credit.
A couple of months later, I had to make a cancellation so I had a negative $300 on my statement for several months.
Then I received a check sent to me for the amount of $300.

Will AMEX claw back the $300 if I don't book and pay for a Marriot hotel before my first year anniversary is up in September 2022?
AMEX sent me a check of $300 after I canceled the hotel reservation.

Bonvoy Brilliant Annual Travel Credit qualifies for dining?

The AX Brilliant was allowing travel credits to be issued for restaurants charges. They also had a $15 wireless credit too. I think both of those are gone. US Bank made theirs permanent, but it appears AX and Citi ended their credits for anything but travel on airlines. If I am wrong, please tell me.

Those were COVID-related credits for 2020/2021. Welcome to 2022.

Looks like the $300 annual credit is getting nerfed for a $25 monthly dining credit, as threatened some time back.
