I just got the PRG in July 2019, does that mean my next annual fee will be $250 in July 2019?
Correct.

Mine was from late May on a targeted offer, 3rd time owning the card. Rep confirmed the cut off date as you quoted here. My next AF would be $250. Will decide at that time if the card is worth to keep. The $250 is not justified to me, $195 with the 4x barely makes it. Have yet seen a worthwhile AMEX offer on the PRG since I have it. I may still go the cancel / wait for a targeted offer route.

The $10/month dining credit is useless to me.

I also dont like the US only 4x when the card does not have forex fee AMEX needs to get its cards earn the same both US AND International. It is the ONLY issuer that limits the category bonus within US. Really dumb.

Well done, Amex.
I actually want the gold but my wife wants Rose gold. I first requested the gold one for myself and then went back to request Rose Gold for her but I was told I have to get Rose Gold too in order for her to get it since I'm the primary card holder. I just want to see what I'm really getting.

For just the Gold card you can order the replacement online. It now has the Order Metal Card option, and once you chose that, there is a message appear online to instruct you to chat if you want the Rose Gold.

Calling might be easier. The chat function is completely overwhelmed. I was trying to chat on SPG card issues but only get the endless circle kept circling forever and ever.

If you order it online (not thru chat) you will only get the Gold one.
The choice of the Primary card determines the choice of the AU card. You cannot have different colors.

What use is a "$10/month dining benefit"? $10 will get me a Subway foot-long with a drink, and a cookie. Offer the $120 as the entire amount at the beginning of each year. We go through the same garbage with the Uber credits. Why is it so difficult for AMEX to offer a consumer friendly program like everyone else? I no longer carry carry an AMEX non-co-brand card in my wallet because of things like this.

On another note, I've read on Myfico this card will also be issued as metal rather than plastic after the refresh.
Amex makes more money on multiple card swipes than on one. Thus a customer unfriendly policy makes it lot more money for them.

CC companies aren't in this for you. Every carrot they offer includes a way for them to fatten their bottom line.

I already requested the metal cards. But I have no clue if I'm still getting the Rose gold or just gold metal. At this moment I'll go with gold version. I'm just curious if the Rose gold card shows the color in Apple pay

Amex also wants to encourage card holders to remain long term hence the credits are spread out. They don't want the churner who burns the entire credit and then cancels.

There's a reason their management gets paid the big bucks while the rest of us type up posts on FT.

Btw, the $250 annual fee is no longer waived for the first year. Anyone who waited until after the launch of the new benefits will not be pleased to discover that.

Does anyone know if the $25,000 cap on 4x spending at grocery stores is per calendar year? Or is it some other timeline?

Edit to add: Just spoke with AMEX chat service. The 4x multiplier cap is per calendar year (Jan 1st - Dec 31st).

You will earn one point for each dollar charged for an eligible purchase in each billing period on The American Express Gold Card. You will earn: 3 additional points (for a total of 4 points) for each dollar charged at restaurants located in the U.S.; 3 additional points (for a total of 4 points) on the first $25,000 of eligible purchases per calendar year at supermarkets located in the U.S. (superstores and warehouse clubs are not considered supermarkets); and 2 additional points (for a total of 3 points) for airfare on a scheduled flight charged directly with passenger airlines (charter flights and private jet flights are excluded) and airfare charged directly with amextravel.com. To earn additional points for a restaurant purchase, the purchase must be at a restaurant located in the United States. You will NOT earn additional points for purchases made at a restaurant owned by a U.S. company but located outside the U.S. (e.g. Hard Rock Café in Paris). You may not earn additional points for purchases at a restaurant located within another establishment (e.g. a restaurant inside a hotel, casino, or event venue). For example, purchases made at a restaurant located within a hotel may be recognized as a purchase at a hotel, not a restaurant. You also will NOT earn additional points for purchases at nightclubs and convenience stores. Eligible purchases are purchases for goods and services minus returns and other credits. Eligible purchases do NOT include fees or interest charges, purchases of gift cards, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, or purchases of other cash equivalents. Additional terms and restrictions apply. Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. A purchase will not qualify for additional points if the merchant's code is not eligible. Purchases made through a third-party payment account or on an online marketplace (with multiple retailers) will not qualify for additional points. A purchase may not qualify for additional points if the merchant submits the purchase using a mobile or wireless card reader or if you use a mobile or digital wallet.

That's correct. The system will let me refer myself, so back to my original question which I have been Googling but still find nothing. I have the personal Platinum card and would like to use my own referral link to get the 50k points signup bonus + 15k points referral bonus for the new Gold card. Will this work?

Again, if you ordered it via the online ordering method, you will get the Gold card only, It is the ONLY option,

Dont understand why you do not know which color flavor you are getting. It is specific online, crystal clear.

If you want the Rose Gold you have to talk to a human and tell the himan you want the Rose Gold - whether via an online chat or via a phone rep.

So what method you used to order your metal card?

It is probably because you talked to the rep about ordering the Rose Gold for your wife and the rep told you the AU card flavor is determined by the Primary card.
You cannot have Gold but to get Rose Gold for your wife. Either you convince your wife Gold is prettier than Rose Gold or you have to give up your Gold so she can have her Rose Gold.

Should, provided you do not have the PRG or its previous life being "Gold card" in the past 7 years.

If you have had the PRG before you would not get bonus because the new "Gold" is essentially the same product as the PRG. It is just like people do not get bonus on the Hilton Ascend when they have had the Surpass in the past.

Not sure that HP is. But I applied w/o the welcome bonus. Then opened a case to see if I can be given the bonus. I figure either way I wanted the card long term.

AMEX gets most of my spend, but I don't spend much I guess. YTD spend is ~40k.
