New York Times reports that the standard Gold Card will also be refreshed:

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/27/bu...-affluent.html
The company announced on Thursday new benefits for holders of its gold cards, including double points for all restaurant transactions in the United States for its premier rewards gold card and regular gold card. It will begin offering a personalized travel service for those cardholders as well as a $100 annual credit for airline incidentals, including meals and baggage surcharges. And it will eliminate foreign transaction fees. Other types of gold cards will get new benefits as well.
The new gold card benefits, which will begin June 1, won’t come without some added cost to cardholders: The annual membership fee for the premier rewards gold card will rise $20, to $195 per year. For the regular gold card, it will rise even more, to $160 from $125.
...
The premier rewards gold card membership grew 10 percent year over year from 2013 to 2014, a company spokeswoman said.

US restaurants ONLY
I Just noticed when I read my latest statement that the additional MR point for dining is for US restaurants ONLY. Not sure what will happen in practice.

All AmEx cards that give bonus points for restaurants have this restriction. The others, I believe, all include international restaurants.

Got this in the mail today, it does not mention anything about the annual fees: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tbxvcjl432...anges.pdf?dl=0

Will the PRG be a "new" card when the fee/benefits change this year?
When the annual fee goes up to $195 and the new benefits (like 2x at restaurants) takes effect, will that make the PRG a new card in the sense that you can get the bonus again if you apply for it under those new terms?

Any rumors of these personal PRG/Gold changes being mirrored on the business side? Would be nice to have no FTF on the Business Gold.

I'm planning a vacation in early September. Since there's no fees for foreign transactions, it appears that I should wait until June 1st to purchase some portions of my vacation.
If I purchase a ticket on a foreign airline on Expedia, is any part of the transaction made in the country of that airline?

I have been waiting to be able to find a 50K points offer again and today got lucky (I hope anyway). I went to AMEX site on a cache/cookie cleared browser and saw it - $1,000 spend first year fee waived. I have never had the card in the past so should technically qualify but we will see. I was instantly approved anyway and plan to hit the spend as soon as the card arrives.
The clincher on this for me was the upcoming 2x on dining. That along with everything else will make this worth it for me.

I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere so I am going to post here and see if I have any lucky.
I have a Amex Gold Rewards Plus card and have no idea whether or not these new benefits that PRG members will be receiving (along with the applicable bump in annual fee) will be given to me as well. I can't even find the "Rewards Plus" card on the Amex website so I am thinking that I had an older version of this rewards Gold Card and simply got grandfathered in.
Can anyone out there tell me whether or I will be eligible to get these new benefits starting June 1, 2015 or should I call up customer service and change my card to the PRG?
Thanks.

No you won't be, and no, you should not. It is a different product. Apply for the PRG to get the 50,000 MR point bonus.
