I transferred all my 180K MR to 252K Avios last night. Not sorry I did (yet). I don't like points sitting in MR or Chase UR. Too many shutdowns.

The big change is to higher priced rewards in Biz and First. I use economy mostly. The other change is that there will be off-peak rewards on BA metal that weren't there before.

For economy short-hops in the US and overseas BA rocks. Means when I travel I can add flights to several destinations cheap. Also you can set up to transfer Avios points to Iberia which hasn't changed it's charts (yet) and has low fuel surcharges.

Do the changes affect the Aer Lingus BOS-DUB rate?
Currently it is 12,500 o/w in economy, and 25,000 o/w in business.

The old system for Econ/Econ+/Biz/First was:

1x/1.5x/2x/3x

The new system varies by band.

Bands 1-3 (segment distance less than 2000 miles):

1x/1.5x/2x/4x

Bands 4-9 (segment distance greater than 2000 miles):

1x/2x/3x/4x

So BOS-DUB (Band 4) was 12.5K in econ and 25K in business (one-way). It will still be 12.5K in econ, but now 37.5K (3x) in business (one-way).

Also note that the free domestic add-on within the UK (when redeeming on BA metal) is going away for Bands 1-3.

I'd like to know as well. I called because I had points pending and informed them I needed to make a transfer in the next two days and they said no.

I got my Amex Gold Premier card at the beginning of the month (new Amex customer) with the 50,000 bonus offer. Just posted my $1000 payment this week and today saw the 50,000 points pending. I opened chat using the Membership Rewards help section and within 2 minutes of "Amber" entering chat and a simple explanation/plea she had posted the pending points to my account (close date is February 13th). I think if you are polite and explain that you wish to take advantage of the 40% bonus without being demanding the MR chat rep will take care of you. This may be a hit or miss so you may have to try more than one rep, but it worked for me in 2 minutes with a month's worth of history with Amex.

Thanks, Amex. 70k Avios in my account now.
