[TARGETED] Business Gold, 50K points for $5K spend, no fee first year

I received a targetted offer for a business gold AMEX card. Some salient points:
  1. Earn 50K points for $5K spend by 11 Aug 2012
  2. $175 fee waived first year
  3. Additional cards fee free first year, then $50 for 1st additional card

I've never paid attention to the benefits of the gold card. It has some that appeal to us and they differ from our Chase Ink biz card.
  • 3x airfare
  • 2x advertising, gas, and shipping
-----advertising: for media, graphic design, trade shows, and advertising services
-----gas: purchases for stand-alone US gas and commercial fuel stations
-----shipping: in the US, for courier, postal, and freight services
  • 1x on everything else

By comparison, our current Ink card has these benefits:
  • 5x points on wireless/telecommunications services (excluding equipment such as phones and fax machines), cable and satellite television and radio services, office supply stores and wholesale distributors of office supplies.
  • 2x points on gas and hotels/motels
  • No foreign transaction fees

(Existing AMEX Open Gold Card members are not eligible for this offer.)

So we are not able to receive 50K pts on 10 K spending on this card if we got it in Aug?

Oh, and I never got my bonus, just 25K
This is the first AMEX I will drop but it might not be the last.

2sx for advertising, gas, and shipping

I understand gas and shipping, but has anyone figured out what qualifies as an "advertising" expense?

If you pay for an ad in your local yellow pages that might qualify.
