Things to Register for When You Have The Platinum Card

Hello, I currently hold the Amex Platinum Card and I came across the: jblackbelt.com website. There's a lot of great information in there, and in the website it states to register for 12 different benefits:

1.Register your card online at www.americanexpress.com
2.Starwood Preferred Guest Gold
3.Avis Preferred Club
4.Hertz #1 Club Gold
5.National Emerald Club
6.Bergdorf Goodman Rewards
7.Neiman Marcus InCircle Rewards
8.Sony Cierge
9.Credit Card Registry
10.Create a Concierge Profile
11.Register your travel preferences
12.Call up and ask for this year's Fine Hotel & Resorts book

Are these benefits still available? Thanks in advance!

Simply going to Google and typing in "Amex Platinum Benefits" will lead you to this page(https://www217.americanexpress.com/c...do?pmccode=137) which when you click see all benefits will tell you the current benefits for the card.

For #12, I called platinum customer's service to get one about a week ago, but the representative said that they don't have one... so I just didn't really bother with it as I can just look up at FHR...

Oh well..

Possibly true this late in the year, but you should receive the 2011 version automatically next year.

Airline Access with Platinum Card

Us Airways was recently added as a club you can go to with an American Express Platinum Card. you don't even have to be flying on US Air to use this benefit.

Am looking at the program for Thailand, which on the website does not mention anything about spg. They are however, offering 50,000 MR upon spendings for the first 3 months reaching equiv of $3.4k.

Last year I was offered something a little of the same line in Bangkok, not too many perks, but there are so many cards now who offer a bit more in Thailand (Central, CITI ETC) I HATE Thailand way of showing Credit line! (They ask for bank statements and property) If you don't have over 500K in your bank account that is just laying there they won't approve haha) AMEX is not so huge in Thailand as of yet, I ended up headed back to the States and got my PLAT here in CONUS, but better rewards and can use it to worth the annual fees.
SPG is more leaning towards US cardholders...

Correct. The website does not mention any hotel benefits including SPG or even Fine Hotels and Resorts. I would call them and ask. http://www.americanexpress.com/thail...platinum.shtml

I am a Canadian Plat Card holder and had no problem signing up for the SPG Gold benefit . . . unlike many other "Platinum Card Benefits" that I do not seem to qualify for as someone without a "US Plat Card"

Ok, so Platinum Card arrived in the mail

I know there are a boatload of benefits.

What should I sign up for, do now?

(also does it give you tiered levels on any other hotel aside from starwood?)

[...edit...]

I'd say depending on your needs... If you are interested in enrolling in rental car programs (Avis, Hertz, National), here is the link... National Emerald Club Executive, in my opinion, is a great program (free upgrades!) ^

I find the extended rental car insurance a nice benefit. Is primary insurance for a flat fee of about $25 for the entire rental period, up to a month. Don't have to file a claim with my regular car ins company if something happens to rental car.
